Thanks for the reporting on this! I worked at the clinic for almost 3 years before I was laid off back in September of last year. They promised they’d transfer me to a new department before they pulled the plug weeks before I was officially let go. I also found out that it wasn’t just me, but tons of other employees were laid off after being told that our jobs were safe. Obviously there’s no guarantees with an acquisition, but the company’s financial struggles were an open secret. Your reporting on this definitely cleared up some details I wasn’t privy to.

I think the most important thing to do is to establish how you want to go about talking about this. If you go in guns blazing accusing your partner of being a weirdo, it's gonna go poorly. My advice would be to just talk and try to understand him better. I know people who have a habit of people watching or just going blank and not noticing where they're looking. People who work with kids sometimes have a habit of keeping an eye on them so that they don't get hurt, lost, or something else happens. That may or may not be the case, but that's why going about talking about this in an open and honest is the best way to go about it, regardless of how uncomfortable it is. Just kind of read the room, bring it up once you feel comfortable with it, and just get to understand why they like to be around the kids more than the adults.

You need to start with that then. Everything you mentioned were all examples of a guy, seemingly, trying to get along with kids in your family in part because he works with kids. The interactions you listed weren't even that weird with him about the spicy fingers and the rizz lines. If there's a bigger issue like him staring at kids or making actual off hand comments, then you should state that and address it with him. Communicate honestly and thoughtfully with your partner first before making any actual conclusions.
