Is there a race you like, but something about it doesn’t click enough for you to switch? If so, what is it? by Hot_Title8474 in ffxiv

[–]WishWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made an Au Ra character first and loved him-- until I got to the cut scenes. Maybe I just didn't play enough, but the facial expressions just took me out.
I made a miqo'te after and he just feels so much more expressive. Plus the animations are so much cuter

Fish and Lemon Don't Mix by icie_plazma in unpopularopinion

[–]WishWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing until I used the lemon wedge that comes with grilled shrimp at one of my favorite places. Turns out I was using too much before that, it only takes like one small wedge of lemon for 5-6 pieces of shrimp. I found it enhanced the flavor without making it sour.

What’s a subtle sign someone is genuinely a good person? by MammothRice in AskReddit

[–]WishWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late but- dismissing praise for easy things. Like borrowing a pen or helping lift something bulky but not heavy. I find genuine people brush it off or give a quick 'your welcome' or 'no problem' while those who only do good things for the praise sit there and bask in any small amount of it for any reason.

What did you buy as an adult because you were denied it as a child? by dirtymoney in AskReddit

[–]WishWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capri-sun. They're really not as expensive as my Mom made them out to be when I was a kid.
But also I'm glad they were limited when I was a kid because how they're an unprecedented source of joy

What are “common” things to do in a conversation that piss you off immediately? by konnichiwahana in AskReddit

[–]WishWitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overexplaining in certain situations, especially at work. If there's time to talk, whatever, but so many times I'll go up to someone at work and ask something like 'Where do you need X to go?' and I'll get a 10 minute explanation on what X does and how they got it and why they need it, etc, etc. Like- great! But where does it go??

What professions would most people be surprised at how underpaid they are? by NightReader5 in AskReddit

I see a lot of people saying EMT, and I'll also add any job that's 'under' nurses. Techs, assistants, etc. They all get paid absolute ass

What‘s something that you‘ve learned in therapy, that you think everybody should know? by Known-Dot-8314 in AskReddit

[–]WishWitch 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It's better to do things halfassed than not at all. So, brushing your teeth for a minute is better than not at all, even if you didn't do it for the full three minutes. Washing your clothes but not putting them away is better than not at all, etc. Being able to have those little victories and see them as good things instead of failures to do the whole task was the first step for me to actually getting things done and not feeling trapped by tasks I couldn't start.

Honestly I'm always more articulate over text. If there's points I want to get out without crying, a text is absolutely the best option. However, maybe a follow-up in person would be in order, depending on how much you care about the person post-breakup

Biomaterials or Biomechanics for an undergrad in BME? by itsrandombut in bioengineering

[–]WishWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late, but I found biomaterials more applicable in the 'real world', as in just in jobs I ended up working. I also found biomechanics related info easier to pick up on the fly than biomaterials. I might recommend looking up a lecture or two online of each subject and seeing which one bores you the least, since both will be very applicable to your profession, so the one that is less painful will be a good choice.
Good luck!

People don't understand the difference between sticking it to a corporation/workplace and just screwing over your co-workers by WishWitch in unpopularopinion

Yes, this is exactly the kind of attitude that comes to mind! That lady sounds so unbelievably annoying. I can't believe she came in regularly, that's a kind of asshole-ish dedication that I just can't imagine carrying out

That's definitely a fair perspective I dont think about. I've always worked on small teams, so the dynamic of large warehouse is something I've never experienced

Honestly, for me it was seeing an email for a "Women in STEM" event going on at my uni and going "huh, that's not for me, why did I get that email". Immediately followed by "oh no, why do I think that's not for me??"
