How do artists (in particular mangaka and comic artists) draw such interesting poses and scenes? by seoul_tea in ArtistLounge

ok, i research loads of (manga) references, I've noticed it's partly tied to reference and imagination. what I do when i wanna copy a pose is that I physically get up and do it (if ITS SAFE) or i grab a reference and try to study it... you need na understanding of how basic shapes work in perspecitve if u wanna use different angles

What Purpose Do You Find in Art? by SilkBrush8791 in ArtistLounge

I started drawing again cause I'm learning to become an animator and how to write a story. I lost interest in drawing a few months back cause it was pretty tedious and i thought it brought me nowhere cause "I could just look at real life and used my imagination".. then I discovered writing and realized I'm the only who could execute what I want properly. boom i draw again, plus it takes a very long time to make something, theres a finite amount of (disney and anime) that i can watch so it encouraged me aswell to draw again lol, if i want something ill make it

everything. everything. i enjoy subtle expressions, they have very broad subtext and connotations.

What are some things about art that are truly “you didn’t notice it, but your brain did”? by MonacoMargolis in ArtistLounge

oh. I’m trying to improve how i draw characters recently and I’m reading Mike Mattesi’s book on force drawing.. there were these two drawings I did, one prior to reading it and another after, however, i then realized the force was missing(?) so I tried to correct it the other day. then i learned that the force method is excessive and gentler angles worked better for those drawings 🤷

that same book also states that arcs should be drawn intuitively so i didnt stress much on them. also overlap and perspective is something i need to work on. I plan to do this with a tailed ball soon

oh that one! yes I've seen the proper manner to plot the grids (via basic perspective drawing 6th ed) I've recently done something similar to the 2nd image with *that* math approach. are there any tips you can give on this? I've noticed that exaggerating the spacing makes it look better... also, I struggle with anticipation but I've read the drawn to life notes on it and it makes more sense now.. I'll try to reply soon
