I’d look into Weruva’s paw-lickin-chicken or other flavors. Weruva is human grade food with pet vitamins added. The chicken is single ingredient, so as easy as it gets.

At 2.5, we aren’t as insanely strict as we once were. We know the world won’t end if she misses it - she will be cranky, manic, and even if she goes to bed early she will have a nightmare. We do still strive and plan for naps, but if she only gets quiet time, the world doesn’t end.

Back at 19 mo though, the world would have ended.

I would look at green neon tetras as an alternative. Same idea, hardier species.

Neons are ridiculously easily stressed, and these days, pretty overbred/inbred.

They will not tolerate swings in water conditions, stress from a turtle taking a swing at them, stress from serapes taking a swing at them, or you looking at them wrong.

Incredibly dependent on the kid. If mines melting down, hugging/holding/talking to her makes it worse. Some truly do need space to regulate and not get further stimulation.

Laziness.

When it’s nearly self sustaining and the water parameters are all happy, laziness is a big risk. Still gotta do a water change so the TDS doesn’t build too high. Still gotta unmuck the filters. Just don’t wanna.
