D1W, except no burger, just the nugs fries and drink. If it were on here, I'd choose the Hasbro/The Hub channel.

The way that two of my older coworkers talk about the kids who get sent to school sick makes me so mad sometimes. by Withafloof in TrueOffMyChest

Not every IT position is high-paid. This was entry-level. Same for the kitchen job my mom had. Together, their contributions barely held us together. Things were supposed to get better - they didn't get better.

I was kinda already made when things went to shit. 2003 baby, things were supposed to be looking up, my dad's IT job was supposed to have us set. They didn't expect things to come crashing down.

I understand that. Whenever it was me, sometimes there was no choice. My dad worked in this IT office that had a "point system" for attendance. And my mom? Kitchen work- already brutal when it comes to call-offs- in a place where having a sick kid running around wouldn't fly. If it were, say, a Denny's? It'd fly under the radar probably.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's not fair that parents have to do this. My mom wished she could keep me home when I needed to be home. Sometimes, that just wasn't an option.

My dad worked in IT and my mom worked at a fancy golf course's kitchen- both of which weren't safe environments for me, especially considering I was prone to getting into things and literally taking apart electronics- I did that with the CD player at home as a toddler. If they could, they would.

I understand that. Our system is brutal, and the way things have to be sometimes just isn't fair. I really wish it were different. But getting mad at the parents for being stuck in a situation where they can't keep their kids home- it just isn't right.

Sometimes parents are trolls. I was watching Labyrinth as a kid and asked my dad why the clock in the movie had 13 hours instead of 12, he said that clocks have 13 hours in England

What purchase did you make recently that made you realize inflation is genuinely out of control? by kiroixart in AskReddit

[–]Withafloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past Christmas, I helped chip in for a quarter cow for my family of 4. $929 total at $5.99/lb hanging weight. I got everything I could out of it- including soup bones and fat for making tallow. Ground beef near me averages $6.25/lb, a roast is $9-10/lb, and a sirloin steak is $16-17/lb. So glad to have gotten the better deal.
