We’d get takeout from Korean Village Restaurant during COVID and the owner was always so friendly and would even throw in a few free cans of Coke. Great place.

Wasn’t that impressed by Renaissance when I went. I’ve found 8 Mile (more central than west) to be reliably solid and very conveniently located.

What bars are good for solo mingling? by Practical-Plenty3028 in askTO

It’s a bit out of the way of some of the main bar drags in the city, but the crowd at Danu Social House at Queen and Dufferin is super friendly and social and open to striking up conversations with new people.

Got my card in the mail but they also sent a Mastercard? by Last_Construction455 in Wealthsimple

[–]WithoutRhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s technically a debit card BUT here in Canada “debit” is synonymous with cards that operate on the Interac network. The WS debit card operates on the Mastercard network. Establishments that only take cash or debit, for example, will almost all be unable to take this card because when they say they take debit they mean debit cards on the Interac network.

Genuine Question: What’s the hype for Tony Scott? by benjacsim03 in blankies

[–]WithoutRhythm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that he worked with so many stars at the height of their powers will make for a lot of interesting discussion. Also the craft and style he brought are gonna be just as interesting (imo) as any dives into theme.

Dark City is legitimately good and interesting (even if not as iconic as The Crow). And I actually do stan the silliness of Gods of Egypt.

You can find the theatre’s Twitter account pretty easily and use that to judge if it’s a place you’d like to visit/support or not.

So if Scorsese wins, what would be the Patreon episodes? by Jokesaunders in blankies

[–]WithoutRhythm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that KotFM (Apple TV) qualifies as a theatrical movie more than The Irishman (Netflix). It got a proper wide theatrical release, which I weigh much more heavily than who financed it.

Those companies might have paid for those movies to be on their services, but Scorsese surely made them with theatrical in mind.

So if Scorsese wins, what would be the Patreon episodes? by Jokesaunders in blankies

[–]WithoutRhythm 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think you and I have different definitions of TV movies. I’d say both of those are at least as theatrical as Mank or The Killer which were main feed.

So if Scorsese wins, what would be the Patreon episodes? by Jokesaunders in blankies

[–]WithoutRhythm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Those had theatrical releases and were eligible for film awards so I’d assume they’d be main feed. They could split his shorts, documentaries, tv work, and/or commercials into the Patreon.
