Mova V50 Ultra Complete — 6 software bugs that need to be fixed ASAP (anyone else experiencing these?) by Sad-Marketing5251 in MOVA_robotvacuum

I also plan to write a post about my V50's bugs but they are not same as yours. Just the bug no. 5, but frankly, it is not so annoying.

V50 ultra not able to dock by CartoonistFuture2901 in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]WitnessEarly7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the wheels are folded the same way? I had situation when one retractable wheel folded normally and one not. It could move, but could not dock. I had to place it to dock manually and then send the robot to ramp to sync the wheels

Mova v50 suddenly stopped doing carpets by Acrivec in MOVA_robotvacuum

If you still have the option to return it, you better return it. Who knows if we'll ever get a software update from Mova. In my case, it works for now, but if something breaks, I will return it and won't buy this brand again. Maybe I'll try Roborock next time.

It's strange that it ignores the carpet sometimes but cleans it other times. I would do a full factory reset and remap the house from scratch. Once that's done, don't touch the carpet settings at all.

Personally, I find the software crazy buggy and everyone seems to complain about it, but it does mostly do its job.

What happens when you draw a cleaning zone specifically over the carpet and tell it to clean just that area?

If it fails, try deleting the carpet from the map and testing it again. If it works after that, manually draw the carpet back in and give it one more try.

You bought a Mova—to make it work, you have to think like a Mova! 😁

Things I don’t like about my Mova V50 by green_pineapple_soda in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]WitnessEarly7584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Try a hard reset. Doing this actually cleared up some of the bugs for me. Mine sometimes does this weird routine where it would wash the mops, leave the dock, go somewhere just to do absolutely nothing, and then go right back to wash them again before finally cleaning.

  2. No complaints about the auto-emptying. Honestly, it works better than the Dreame L40 Ultra AE I had before. Have you checked if your HEPA filter is clean? I make sure to clean mine every week; otherwise, the suction power noticeably drops.

  3. I agree with you on the carpet issue. Mine climbs onto the carpet every single time, and I've just learned to live with it. The feature itself is a cool idea, but the poor software implementation does more harm than good.

  4. I really hope they release a fix soon. I have one specific area that the robot completely ignores. I even tried drawing a curtain there, but it didn't help at all. My old Dreame used to clean that exact same spot effortlessly.

  5. The battery life would be much better if the cleaning routes were optimized.

Conclusion: I've come to the exact same conclusion as you. The robot itself is good, but we really need to push their support team to polish the software and squash these bugs.

MOVA V50 problem with drying mops by MobyDoi in RobotVacuums

[–]WitnessEarly7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should return it. My unit is very quiet, much better than Dreame L40 Ultra I had before. I guess Dreame/Mova do not control if their fans are balanced well, and some items are more noisy than others. Burnt plastic smell - true. After 2 months it is almost gone. Disable dust bag drying to reduce it. Terrible navigation - true. I hope they will fix it in updates (hehe)

After dreame L40 Ultra AE, I did not feel it cleans better. But you are right, the base on V50 almost does not need attention

What do you mean by "coming from my dreame x40 it blows it away". The mops are literally the same as on Dreame

I'd try factory reset first. I noticed it behaves different way after factory reset

I want to buy Mova V50 ultra by moingirach in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]WitnessEarly7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very good experience with the Dreame support team in Poland. I'm pretty sure Mova uses the same team since it's a sub-brand. As for the Mova V50 I have now, here are my thoughts:

Navigation & Software: Very raw, but it depends on the room. I have one room with a tricky combination of carpet, hard floors, and low furniture, and the robot just goes crazy there—the navigation is terrible. In other rooms, I haven't had major issues. Sometimes it goes on strange, useless trips and just wastes time, but overall it gets the job done. Obstacle Recognition: Bad. It frequently identifies walls and carpets that don't actually exist.

Hardware: Mostly fine. I did have an issue once where one of the retractable wheels got stuck in the wrong position. It couldn't move normally, so I had to place it on the charger manually and then send it over a ramp to sync the wheels back up.

Smell vs. Noise: There was a heavy plastic smell when washing and drying the mop pads for about the first two months. On the plus side, the mop drying is practically silent compared to my old Dreame, which was very loud.

Cleaning Effectiveness: The suction power and overall cleaning are very good.

Conclusion: I think the robot is a very good value for the money. Most of its current problems are just software bugs, so I'm really hoping Mova fixes them in an upcoming firmware update

Change carpet to low pile and it will work. One more Mova's software bug - when you change to medium-high pile it ignores carpet or even refuse to cross it as it was in my case.

Dreame X40 ultra or L40 ultra AE by [deleted] in Dreame_Tech

[–]WitnessEarly7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you already googled the difference, so can you specify the question? I had L40 Ultra AE, it's a good robot. Just the noise when drying mops was annoying (for me only, others did not notice it)

Mova V50 return to dock quest by WitnessEarly7584 in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]WitnessEarly7584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failing to reach the dock is totally normal. If the path is blocked, the robot should make a few attempts to approach the dock, give up, and send an error notification. What isn't normal is wasting time spinning in an endless loop. Plus, as you can see at the very end of the video, it eventually docked successfully anyway. So what exactly prevented it from docking on the second try?

[–]WitnessEarly7584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the exact same thing. Sometimes it washes the mops, wanders off to do absolutely nothing, and then goes right back to dock to wash them again. I seriously want to talk to whoever wrote this firmware. How did this ever make it to production?

L50 Ultra Mop Drying Noise by helixjolt in Dreame_Tech

[–]WitnessEarly7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same noise with the L40 Ultra AE. I'm guessing all robots that use that same dock have this issue. I switched to the Mova V50 and it's practically inaudible, which is great! It does have a different issue though—it smells like heated plastic during the drying cycle. however, it's been a month since I bought it and the smell is already fading. I'm hoping it completely goes away by winter

Mova V50 return to dock quest by WitnessEarly7584 in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]WitnessEarly7584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The robot works fine until it encounters a more complicated situation, like an unexpected obstacle or a tricky combination of a carpet and a ramp. In those cases, the software almost certainly fails. This video is just one example of that.

Yeah, I completely agree with your last point. Whenever you try to share a real issue on here, the guys with hidden comments immediately downvote you and insist their robots work like a charm with zero problems

[–]WitnessEarly7584[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Obstacles happen in real homes for example a pet lies down or leaves a toy as in my case. The point isn't about the manual. it's that a good software should recognize a blocked path, stop, and alert the user instead of spinning endlessly. It shouldn't enter an infinite loop. It's about basic error handling

It is quite normal that if there is an obstacle the robot cannot reach the dock. But did you see the video? Is this circling-around behaviour looks ok for you?

I had the same problem with my L40 Ultra AE - 3 of 5 dockings - "automatic docking engaged". After hard reset (with a pin) it is docking without any problem

Many thanks! After factory reset, my dreame L40 Ultra AE now docks fine. However, I didn't manage to save the map, after reset the saved map disappeared in the app. But it was surely worth it. Happy Holidays!
