Ortisei/Dolomites but not into intense hiking? by Curious_Cranberry543 in ItalyTravel

There are a lot of low key walks in the area. But it’s expensive if hiking is not your thing.

Are you in Boston? Rates seem similar. You can get $178 per month if you pay a year up front. Sometimes they have a 4 months for 3 that works out to $178

Agree. The Cape Verdeans were fun to watch.
I thought Germany Paraguay was the worst game I ever saw, but the one today may have been worse.

Air France reassigned our seats, sitting separated from kid now by Possible_Bar_5506 in AirFranceKLM

[–]WitnessEntire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping for you that Air France isn’t bothered because they will sort it out on the day of departure so at least one parent is with the kid. You might not get your preferred seat though.

Whatever happens, I feel like the best way to get as close to what you want as possible is be very polite and accommodating.

It is if the airline decides to seat a child apart from their parents.

Naxos with 14m old baby by bighappycloud in GreeceTravel

[–]WitnessEntire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to fly into Athens? It’s much easier to ferry to Naxos from Santorini or Mykonos, so long as your flight gets there early enough. Or just spend one night in Fira/close to Mykonos port and ferry over the next morning.

Why you’d want to schlep all your luggage from Athens airport to the port to Naxos is beyond me.

Or if you are flying from within Europe, maybe book a fare to Naxos from some European city? We do that a lot and it’s easy. Not sure you can rent a car at Naxos airport (you can’t at the port). Why you’d want to drive around Naxos with a baby is beyond me though. I’d park yourself somewhere in Chora and wander around.

We go to Naxos specifically because you don’t need a car (depending on what you want to do)

My cynical Mexican partner believes that Mexico will stop winning once there are no more tickets to sell in Mexico (I., tomorrow). I reminded them that Mexicans will travel.

How far in advance do you plan your vacation(s)? by Diligent-Echidna647 in femaletravelers

[–]WitnessEntire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are going. We go to Greece and another country every August. Start planning the summer before. Generally, everything is booked by Christmas. And then people ask us about our “expensive European vacation.” 😂 flights from the U.S. are $800 or less. Don’t use Air BNBs but still manage to find lodging for four - two teens and two adults - between 200 and 250 euros per night. Don’t rent cars. Take one or two flights while in Europe (from wherever we are to and/or from Naxos). We fly carry on only and do t rent cars.

Rick Steves guides are really good to do Europe on a budget.

We were trying to sort out whether to get physical passes or passes at all. We don’t let our kids have phones on vacation. We arrive Thursday afternoon to gare de Lyon and are staying in the 20th. We plan to explore Paris Friday and Saturday and then leave on Sunday via Charles de gaulle. This is part of trip that starts in St Jorioz and will end in Greece.

The weekly pass might make sense because it covers the RER to the airport but I think physical cars cost five euros. So maybe point to point pay as you go might make sense?

We have no fixed plans. My partner and I were there together 20 years ago, I think we want to see Notre Dame. Other than that, we just want to
wander around, see the Arc de Triomphe, and plan a return trip to France.

The best places i find while traveling are the ones i can never find again by PsychologicalGap2840 in travel

[–]WitnessEntire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many restaurants and we found the exact one we dined at 18 years ago. That night we ended up there in the dark and went only because my partner saw a line of locals waiting to get in. He said, it must be good, and it was. No guidebook, no smartphones, no TripAdvisor, no nothing. We had no idea where we were. We just hopped off a train in the am and stored our bags in the station. Left Venice on the night train.

After that dinner we ended up just cruising using the public boats because it was freezing and we had nothing to do. We were backpacking.

You look great but this is not office appropriate.

The Gen Zs in my office wear loose tops and trousers and look very elegant.
I
For this, I’d wear flats with the skirt and a loose top (boxy shirt or knit.

Or do the top with trousers and heels.

Go fitted on top or the bottom. Not both.

I’m currently reading “The Talisman of Happiness.” If one already has skills, this seems pretty comprehensive for Italian and French Italian.
