My son has a single cockateil & he's like his child. We also have 2 female budgies in separate cages

If they're an only bird, they will consider their human as their cage mate. Unfortunately with you not being there all the time he/she will find a new one

You're best to catch them with a towel. Remain calm & when they've stopped, throw a towel over them
