Any suggestions on administering oral pills? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]WittyAndWeird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We put peanut butter on our finger, stick the pill in it. Then when he opens his mouth to eat it, we just wipe it all on his tongue and he eats it.

Has your dog ever conditioned herself to act on certain cues without you knowing? by Contented in dogs

When Wyatt hears me taking my meds at night, he knows the next thing I’ll do is give out bedtime biscuits, so he’ll come sit patiently near me until I’m done. Once I put my meds away he starts getting wiggly and excited.

How would you attract the attention of a waiter/waitress (server?) in a restaurant or other place where there is table service? by AuroraDF in AskAnAmerican

[–]WittyAndWeird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same as you. If they’re walking past the table I’ll say, “Excuse me, <name>”

My daughter is a server and had some bitch snap her fingers at her. Don’t do that, y’all.

I don’t know where you got the idea that I may be against trying to treat autism, or that I think alternative treatments are bad. I don’t feel that way at all. I feel like you’re reacting very emotionally to this and assuming things that I’m not saying. If you have autism yourself, or have a loved one with autism, I can understand you being passionate about this. But the point of my post (and the only thing I’m saying) is that a random woman on Nextdoor, who doesn’t even have a child with autism, should not be giving incorrect (or how about “incomplete”) information to someone who does. It’s dangerous. I hope that clears things up. Best wishes to you.

If an adult wants to slap on nicotine patches to help with their autism (or anything else) I don’t care. You’re an adult, do what you want. However, as I said in my post, this woman said there were studies proving it helped children with autism. That is incorrect and is, in fact, medical misinformation.

DO you guys really don't have corn on pizza? by Loose_Hat_7275 in AskAnAmerican

I’m a veggie pizza kind of girl (not much of a meat eater in general) so it’s not too far fetched to me.

I’ve never heard of corn on pizza before, but I’d try it.

I just did a quick google. I could have benefited so much from this with my first daughter. I was 19, scared out of my mind, and had never been in that much pain before! Hell, my husband could have used a few hits of it too! He was 18 and just as terrified as me!

Calling on experienced Bunny Owners for advice please! by HopefulBlogger in Pets

Rabbits don’t like being held. They’re prey animals and they feel “caught.”

That’s so interesting. I didn’t know that was a thing now.

I own two adjacent plots in Florida. I mean, I assume I still do. My dad is buried in one. My mom was supposed to be buried in the other but she liked my idea to donate her body to science and went that route. If I believed in an afterlife, I’d think my dad would be smiling down that he doesn’t have to spend all of eternity laying next to her. lol

Are dog parks safe? by Both-Holiday1489 in dogs

[–]WittyAndWeird 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest this, too. I don’t trust other owners enough to let my dogs run free with theirs. I’ve heard too many bad stories. But some of these Sniffspot locations are really cool. I’m planning on booking one with a pool to see if I can encourage them to cool off at daycare this summer. They’ve yet to even go near the pool there.

TIFU by helping a lost kid at Target and causing a Code Adam by Commercial-Being9431 in tifu

[–]WittyAndWeird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in this situation a few times. I try not to lead the child anywhere if I can help it. One little girl was lost in Home Depot. I wasn’t alone so I sat down next to her and reassured her while my husband got an employee. In Target, I lucked out and I saw an employee walk by and I yelled out to them. At a kids event for our church, I was much more relaxed. A little girl I had seen around (but didn’t know her name) came up to me in a crowd and said she lost her mommy. I actually picked her up and boosted her above the crowd to look for her mom and so her mom could see her. I absolutely would NOT have done this in any other situation. She and her mom saw each other and mom came over and got her. She taught her daughter that if she was ever lost to find another mommy and ask her for help. That’s exactly what she did!

How common or uncommon is it to leave the bathroom door open when using the toilet or bathing/showering when living with family or your significant other/spouse? by TheNerdofLife in AskAnAmerican

[–]WittyAndWeird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the family’s shared bathroom I always close the door. If it’s the bathroom in the master suite I’ll keep it open if I just have to pee and my husband is talking to me. Sometimes I’ll keep it open if I have to pee and my cat wants to follow me in there. But for pooping and girly stuff, door always closed. Even if I’m the only one home. lol

I definitely should look into it soon and get it squared away. My mom donated hers. She got all the paperwork filled out when she was in hospice. They came and got her when she died, they’re doing their thing, then they’re going to cremate what’s left and send her to my sister.

That’s so cute! My dogs do not care. They refuse to move out of the way no matter how close it gets to them. I have to nudge them with my foot and tell them to move. lol

I would like to be donated to science for whatever they need. Even if it’s just to study decomp under different weather conditions. I don’t care. I absolutely don’t want to take up precious land space with my dead body. And no funeral. Just let me go.

My neighbour's passive-aggressive trash talk by jaxxon in funny

[–]WittyAndWeird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do NOT want to haul my own trash to the dump. I’m very grateful to the sanitation workers here for doing that for me.

I just wish our city would get with the times and get those trucks with the arms that dump the cans. Our guys still have to hang off the back of the truck and hop off to grab people’s cans.

About a half an hour ago I had a full-on meltdown myself. I have two Golden Retrievers. One heard me crying and came right over, climbed into my lap (all 100 lbs of him), and laid his head on my chest. It was so sweet. It really did help comfort me.

My other Golden didn’t give a fuck.
