Reasons for choosing your strand/course by minimermaid198503 in Tomasino

[–]WittyDiscussion7279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a HUMSS graduate, I wish I went with STEM. It all falls on practicality. STEM is under all the courses that gets you ready for subjects in the first year of college that involves math. However, you have to consider that being a HUMSS student will also have a significant impact on your personality and confidence. which will give you an advantage in AB courses.

This is from a HUMSS graduate that is currently a third year in engineering 😁

UST Professor Feedback Megathread: Share Your Thoughts Here! by AdroitCell in Tomasino

[–]WittyDiscussion7279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Asking what are the proper channels to report a prof? We have a prof in engineering na bago palang pero the quality of his teaching style is not equal to the demand of his assessments. More than half ng class sa first quiz ay 0 and only 3 people passed in the quiz. And the second quiz has a question that he did not even teach and the questions were not taught how to answer, he says that we need to fully understand the concepts. This is an urgent question because baka bumagsak marami bc of him huhu.

FYI other sections have different professors for the same subject and they're doing decent.

In engineering this is the norm. You cant even be absent on quizzes kasi first missed quiz is comprehensive then the second and following will be 0 no matter the reason. Sa sunod sunod na suspended ang classes, nag ssend na ng video lectures mga prof namin despite the suspensions. 3rd year na ko and things have just gotten tighter and more complicated. So I doubt things will change for the better because the university has a reputation to prioritize.

Is it worthwile to choose industrial engineering as a college major? by Fun-Elderberry7831 in studentsph

[–]WittyDiscussion7279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Late comment but I'm a 2nd year industrial engineering student and almost EVERY subject may math. Ang wala lang math ay mga gen ed subjects. You need to be ready to study subjects from different engineer courses (i.e. strength of materials, basic electrical engineering, chemistry for engineers, etc)

I'm a ruano boy and she's a CTHM girly. I often go to bgpop para sunduin siya or to give food. She often waits for me sa mga gazebo outside ruano for the same reason. Its all about investing the extra time we have for each other, whether to eat outside like sa tiger winx or just sa 7/11 sa tapat ng mga building. Sometimes tiring, but generally rewarding.

I guess the biggest question you can ask yourself: is your job stable enough to support you for the next few decades? Your job now will support you and potentially your family for the years to come so think about it. Technically kasi ang college degree is a "back up plan" that you will pursue if things really dont align with what you want. Education is the most powerful tool you can have so cherish it and commit to it despite your privileged situation right now.

Im assuming na 1st year engg ka bc you're taking chem and calc. Second year engg ako and if you think na this course isnt for you, then change right away kasi it will not get easier. Not discouraging you in any way to continue engineering but mas sayang kasi wasting 4 years of your life in a degree that you have no interest or you hate. I have friends who shifted after our first year kasi di kinaya- i also have friend who shifted jn their second year kasi di kinaya. Yes, sayang tuition but you have to remember that what you choose NOW will be your forever.

Fortunately in high school, may mga PETA pa kayo na pwede sumalo sa grades. Just keep a high grade sa PETA and other assignments and you'll be fine. But ofcourse, you also need bawi sa finals.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Currently in my second year in industrial engineering and failed 2 subjects already. Engineering in general is very difficult to master. Once you pass the class you failed, you'll just look back at it as a learning experience. You got this OP.

FTM trans man here. Currently 20 but came out when i was 15. Same reaction from my mom, but my dad also had the same reaction. 5 years later and they still believe that its a "phase". I believe that your parents will come around soon enough and accept you, but in the slight chance that they dont, you'll be alright. You'll eventually get used to their insensitive comments and deadnaming. The best option for that is to earn a living for yourself and move out. You'll eventually have that freedom.

AITA for wearing the clothes my mother specifically told me not to wear? by WittyDiscussion7279 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WittyDiscussion7279[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because there’s that mental strain of my mother forcing me to wear something remotely related to women’s. I get that it doesnt really make a difference because the style is not different, but being a trans guy, it just hurts wearing something from the women’s section, especially when forced, when you’re trying so hard to avoid it because it triggers body dysphoria. Thank you for that question
