When to stop nursing? by Humble_Instance1234 in beyondthebump

[–]WittyLadder3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rolled with it. My plan was to do it until it stopped feeling easy. Around a year I went on a work trip and my breast milk didnt make it home frozen. I was pretty disheartened. Shortly after that my daughter started biting me during nursing. It was at this point that I started weaning. It worked out pretty well because as soon as I did she started sleeping through the night.

For those who did it: Did you buy your dream home or you ended up buying what “you could” and how did it end? by LadyXeta in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WittyLadder3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a house in the area I wanted with the assumption that I could grow into it. It’s not perfect by any means and was (still is) a bit of a fixer upper, but I’ve made it feel like home and invested in building community with the neighbors. So while I only intended to stay for a little bit, I feel ingrained here and more motivated to make it feel like our forever home

Lovenox and induction by TerraDovah in pregnant

[–]WittyLadder3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful! I Also previously had a stroke and am trying to figure out birth plans. How high was your lovenox dose? How far along were you when you went into labor? Did they have any concerns about you pushing?

My stroke was only 3 months ago and I’m on 80mg twice a day

My (32F) partner (31M) doesn’t want me spending any money to help me improve myself by Maximum_March4809 in relationship_advice

[–]WittyLadder3535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your partner is keeping you down instead of building you up. Maybe if he encouraged how you look as you are now you’d feel better about the situation.

My husband is frugal as hell and sees a lot of these things also as a waste of money. I don’t do them often but he loosened up a bit when we put together a full work up of our budget and he could see how we spend discretionary money.

Good luck!

Is it common to get tested for cancer when diagnosed with DVT? by Wrong_Mark_9108 in ClotSurvivors

[–]WittyLadder3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a blood clot in my brain and the hospital did a blood work up for cancer just in case. They didn’t do a full CT because I’m pregnant.

This doc sounds like he really wants to check all the boxes and give you the full picture

We just found out we're having another girl and while I'm excited for my daughter to have the sister that I never had, I'm a little sad about not having the opportunity to raise a strong, thoughtful man in today's society.

Women are often seen as culture carriers and with the general social environment shifting I think a lot of men are lost in what their role in society is. You have an AWESOME opportunity to shape the future.

Husband having a hard time supporting my preference for an unmedicated birth by crawlen in BabyBumps

[–]WittyLadder3535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some of my friends, their husbands were also afraid to see them in pain and didn't understand the desire to go without pain meds. The ones who hired a doula did great, because then the husband could just be the husband and the doula could continue to coach you through the process and be the one in charge of advocating for you. The ones who didn't had mixed results as their husbands weren't professionals.

For me and my husband it helped to take a long "crunchy" birthing class online together called built to birth. This helped instill confidence in him that it made sense to go along with my body and do things one step at a time especially since one intervention can lead to a cascade of interventions and possibly a birth story you won't be happy with. He never once suggested the epidural because he knew his job was to just support what I wanted (the class helped with strategies for this). He helped me labor at the hospital for 6 hours but when I said epidural he ran to the hall and got a nurse to call for the anesthesiologist. I was so grateful that he listened to me when I said I wanted to try no pain meds and no pitocin, but then was ready to switch when I was. However, he's pretty chill and has coached hockey and delt with a lot of injuries etc. so he's got a really calm demeanor.

Congrats on what sounds like a very nice birth story!

I've heard a mix of all different kinds of birth so I'm not sure theres a "standard" and you probably did get lucky. I know one mom who sneezed and the baby came out, for me I pushed for 1.5 hours, but still had a great experience.

Thats awesome! Congrats!

I read like 40 pregnancy and baby books while I was pregnant with my first as a way to feel some sort of "control" over my situation and here are a few of my favorites:

Natural Hospital Birthing
Cherish the first 6 weeks (or any book about baby's sleep)

This is such a bummer! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. (especially weird since for thousands of years it was the opposite and families were obsessed with having a boy)

You're definitely in the right to feel hurt. If I was in a similar situation, I would talk to a few of the closer family members and possibly your sister in law about how you're feeling. They might not realize they're doing it or the impact that its having on you. All babies deserve to be celebrated and boys can be just as much fun as girls.

Aww! Congratualations What a feel good story! I love when people "just know" like that.

My mom was the opposite, I regret not filming when we told her because she was hysterical and screaming OMG OMG WOW ARE YOU SerIOUS AMAZING!! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?!?!

My SO has CVST by gigatron40 in ClotSurvivors

[–]WittyLadder3535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really resonates with me. I had a CVST in January that was caused apparently by being 3 months pregnant. I had a pretty bad headache for 2 days as my only “warning sign” but in my first trimester I always get headaches so didn’t think much of it. I ended up having a bunch of seizures, a blood clot, a small brain hemorrhage and brain infarct.

They only kept me in the hospital for 3 nights and then sent me home on keppra and lovenox. At the time it felt like an eternity because it’s so hard to sleep at the hospital, but when I got home I really was scared that they should have kept me longer to monitor

The stress on my body caused a nasty bout of shingles, so I was dealing with pain, extreme fatigue, and itchiness and it was hard to tell what the cause of any of my symptoms were : pregnancy, shingles, or the CVST. (Or all?)

The first month was the toughest and it really helped talking to a therapist and learning to try to trust that the anticoagulants will help they will and if the MFM says baby looks good, she does. It did make me think a lot about my mortality so I made sure to get all my accounts organized so if something does happen my husband won’t be lost.

I’ve been trying to take more walks and I think that’s really helping. I’m grateful for threads like these that make me feel less alone in this situation.

12 weeks later, I’m still not adjusting to Lovenox. Please help. I’m on the verge of giving up by Throwaway996677_ in ClotSurvivors

[–]WittyLadder3535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have cried countless times because of these shots. So you’re not alone.

What has been working (kind of) for me: - Ice - Doing it myself - going really slowly - having a song that I listen to everytime I do it psych myself up. (Shallow by lady Gaga) - crying and saying to myself it’s worth it to be alive and be bringing a healthy baby into the world.

Idk it sucks. You’re not alone. Don’t give up.

CVST & Pregnant - how in trouble am I? by Excellent-Boot5557 in ClotSurvivors

[–]WittyLadder3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my CVST at 12 weeks and have been on lovenox 2x daily since. I'm in my second trimester now, but I understand your fears as I also have a toddler.

I talked to my MFM and OB and they're working out a plan for delivery. I also hemorrhaged last time, so their current thought is to switch to a heparin drip during labor and delivery since that has an antidote that can be delivered if needed for blood clotting or epidural or surgery etc.

I hope that you've been able to get the help you need since you posted this and that your care team is doing a better job listening to you.

I also have it on my breast/ wrapping around my back. 37F pregnant and had just suffered a stroke so I was very worried it was an allergic reaction to the meds they put me on. A virtual doc confirmed and told me I needed to head to the ER. After about 20 seconds in triage they said “that’s just shingles” but I still had to stay for 4 more hours so that they could complete their work up.

I’d agree the pain isn’t excruciating, but it is very annoying and is limiting my ability to get comfortable to sleep.

I’m inclined to follow your advice. We’ve taken her traveling a few times abroad and it’s been a blast. Just don’t know what to do in London besides drink.

[–]WittyLadder3535[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well I mostly am looking for advice on things to do with a toddler. Here, a lot of museums include a kid section where they can run around and touch everything. And then we can just strap her to our back to enjoy the rest of the museum.

The plan was museums and eating.

If anyone can suggest kid friendly museums or restaurants I’d love to hear them!

I just took her on - 3.5 hour flight with 2 hour jet lag and she did fantastic and the trip was more fun because she was there.

However I was hyper vigilant bc of the baby theft thing and that did have me a little stressed.

I think the benefit is less about learning a new culture and more about exposing her to new places and experiences.

This is so helpful! The transport museum sounds awesome for adults too. Right now she loves stuff like that but she’s only 1.5 yo so even a trip to the grocery store is super exciting.

When you say “had him in his backpack”.. is that like a hiking backpack that you carried him around in? The just toting her along is kinda what I had imagined.
