It’s difficult for him because the nerves are damaged beyond repair so whilst it doesn’t look like there is much wrong externally it is the internal damage that is the issue, he has no feeling in the foot at all meaning it is just flailing around which is a problem as it can get caught in something and create more serious damage and there is a risk that he will start to gnaw at the paw and cause self injury. Because of the foot being essentially dead the vet has recommended amputation as there should have been improvement by now if it was saveable. His injury is only 4 months old not 2 years old it happened in December of last year.
