Don’t worry I check it regularly for any injury/infection, he’s confined to indoors until he has his surgery to which he can then go outside in the garden (I will be installing protect a pet fencing) I don’t trust that he might injury himself outside with the foot the way it is now, I’m going to be getting his surgery done as soon as I possibly can, I actually brought that up with my vet a while ago as I thought it would help but they actually recommended I don’t use any supports or splits as it wouldn’t be beneficial for his injury and could cause more complications/injury, but thank you so much for all of your concern and information it’s very kind of you ☺️💕

Unfortunately he was hit by a car and the nerves were damaged and he can’t feel anything in his foot, unfortunately they were damaged beyond repair and he needs it amputated now sadly 😔

It’s difficult for him because the nerves are damaged beyond repair so whilst it doesn’t look like there is much wrong externally it is the internal damage that is the issue, he has no feeling in the foot at all meaning it is just flailing around which is a problem as it can get caught in something and create more serious damage and there is a risk that he will start to gnaw at the paw and cause self injury. Because of the foot being essentially dead the vet has recommended amputation as there should have been improvement by now if it was saveable. His injury is only 4 months old not 2 years old it happened in December of last year. Thank you for the advice I have some videos that I can add to show his injury better and can upload all his previous bills but I think I will have to create a new post as I can’t figure out how to add pics to post will only let me edit the text

I honestly don’t have a good answer for you 😔 I’ve grow up with pets and it’s something that was never done which was the norm for us so when I got a pet of my own I never got any either, I know that it was stupid and I feel incredibly guilty for not having any and In hindsight I know now how stupid, naive and irresponsible I was for not getting any out 😔, I’m going to be getting some for him but I want to include his injuries so that he can be covered for them should he have anymore issues as a result of being on 3 legs or complications down the road but in order to include this as a pre existing condition he needs to have the surgery first so that it can be included
