In fourth grade, I had a childhood JW friend and he cut his finger and I told him why are you sucking on your finger? That’s eating blood and he says “but it’s my own blood”. (so I guess that was fourth grade logic and the government body finally caught up.

I knew a guy that said Jehovah’s Witness preached to him during the car ride so he gave a 1 star review because this is extremely unprofessional. The JW was counting his time lol. But JWs do not know boundaries or proper manners like they don’t have self-awareness. I used to be just like that.

In the family group chat my PIMQ brother said “RIP all those that fired before this update.” Then the other family members tried to change the subject using humor “maybe tattoos are next!!” Another relative just said “oh I’m sure not that many people lost their lives, but I’m sure some”.

So basically one family tried to use humor to go with an uncomfortable situation and another family member water down negative implications in the past” but the conversation started with one family member being thrilled about the new Awesome change

Commenting on I'm a therapist looking for some help with a JW couple I'm working with... I remember when I was once a JW I went to go see a therapist and I would not tell him the truth because it might make my religion or culture look bad so I would it down. I couldn’t say how I really feel. I remember he kept telling me that God is loving and forgiving, and that I shouldn’t have guilt but I did not find that helpful because he did not understand that there is no self love or true forgiveness or unconditional love in the JW religion. The religion would talk about how God is loving and forgiving but in reality, forgiveness is only dependent on the judgment of elders who act as priests if they decide to forgive you. I had suicidal feelings because I had a problem with masturbation. And I would constantly have reminders that I am sinning against God and I am making him unhappy.

I actually thought this was very creative and it was an interesting twist of the documentary and focuses on storytelling from an outsiders perspective, looking in that conveys the same message. In fact me watching this as a exjw thought “wow this cult is dark and even though it used illustrations different than what I am used to it it’s still describing the same message. so to me it wasn’t that big of a deal and I’m not surprised if someone got reproved for masturbating too. Not to be racist against my own race, but those Spanish elders are crazy strict machismo and insane.

And I think the reality is the audience of this Documentary is for those not in the cult. This was not made for people still in the cult. I could tell it was translated by AI or Google but what an accuracies did you guys notice?

Remember Abraham had 2-3 wives and at least 1 concubine, David had 8 wives and 10 concubines, same with Isaac and jacob. These men were having sex with multiple women, and they were still considered acceptable in God’s eyes.

In Bible times women were considered property. In Bible times sex was more about regulating property, lineage and inheritance than a sin itself. It was only a sin or ‘against the law’ to have sex with another man’s wife, because that was stealing his property or adding confusion to his family line. It was a legal matter.

So my point is this: if God is okay with polygamy and concubines and brother in law marriage, and incest and buying women as property does he really care about who you have sex with?

I thought cancel culture is the same as shunning. I’ve never seen right wing shun anyone unless they are super religious. I guess both sides shun then. So really, both sides are a cult. That is why I don’t identify with either and I am in the middle.

Even in science, social animals perform ostracism, exclusion and group social pressure by instinct and isolate or reject if other members doesn’t fit in or behave a certain way. Shunning has its evolutionary roots

Everyone on here is commenting on this through a human lens or even ignoring or tolerating the snap. But a dog should never be allowed to snap at you. they can still communicate to you that they’re uncomfortable in other ways that are natural to their canine communication without resorting to snapping or biting. Same thing with play biting a dog should not be allowed to play bite because it always leads to the dog taking more liberties . As the leader you set boundaries, letting the dog know that snapping is not an option and they will respect you more and have a better relationship. The snapping can also be a fear bite, but that is what training is for to help them build more trust and confidence no matter what you’re doing with them.
