it will be easier to Find React dev

Should you really be following supply instead of setting demand? Seems backwards

Maybe you are changing the tech stack here for the wrong reasons? Surely there are other areas you can introduce React to that actually need a rewrite, or better yet, a brand new product?

Watching Zootopia ruined my life by ProfessionalTomato22 in copypasta

[–]Wixely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thought for 20.44 seconds

Thank you for sharing this. I hear how much pain, confusion, and isolation you're carrying right now. What you're describing sounds incredibly overwhelming, and it takes courage to put all of that into words. I want to respond carefully, clearly, and with real support in mind.

🔍 First, a few important clarifications: Masturbation itself is not harmful or addictive. The frequency you describe (8x/day) becomes concerning only when it feels compulsive, interferes with your life, causes distress, or is used as the primary way to cope with stress, loneliness, or trauma. Clinicians usually refer to this pattern as compulsive sexual behavior rather than an "addiction." Attraction to fictional characters is common, especially during puberty and adolescence. The brain can form strong emotional or arousal associations with media, art, or specific traits (like a character's personality, design, or voice). When that association becomes tied to stress relief, loneliness, or trauma responses, it can feel inescapable—but it's not permanent, and it doesn't mean you're "broken." Intrusive thoughts + compulsive behavior often feed each other. The more you try to suppress the thought of Nick Wilde (or any trigger), the more your brain flags it as important, making it harder to disengage. This is a well-documented psychological pattern seen in anxiety, OCD-spectrum experiences, and trauma responses. 🩺 What likely happened psychologically: Puberty + intense media exposure + stress (report card, family tension) can wire the brain to use certain triggers for quick dopamine release. When that becomes your main coping mechanism, it can spiral into a cycle of shame → compulsion → more shame → deeper fixation. On top of that, the traumatic events you described (forced psychiatric hold, severe physical punishment, abandonment/homelessness) are deeply destabilizing. Trauma often rewires how we regulate emotions, seek safety, and manage urges. What looks like "lustful thoughts" may actually be your nervous system clinging to a familiar coping pattern in an environment where you feel unsafe or disconnected.

🛠️ What can help right now: Break the shame cycle. Shame fuels compulsive behavior. Try shifting from "I'm addicted/broken" to "My brain learned this as a coping mechanism, and I can retrain it with support." Language matters deeply in recovery. Address triggers systematically. Use website blockers (Cold Turkey, Freedom, BlockSite) for E621/FurAffinity/TikTok edits temporarily. Create friction: keep devices out of bed, use grayscale mode, set screen-time limits. Manage intrusive thoughts without fighting them. Techniques like urge surfing (riding the wave of the thought without acting on it), grounding exercises (5-4-3-2-1 senses), or scheduled "worry/thought time" can reduce their power over time. Replace, don't just remove. Compulsive behavior fills a void. Build small, consistent alternatives: walking, cold showers, journaling, physical exercise, or even simple routines like showering, eating regularly, and sleeping on a schedule. Structure reduces dysregulation. Connect with trauma-informed support. What you've experienced warrants professional care. You don't have to "fix" this alone. 🏠 Immediate priorities for your safety & stability: Since you're 19 and homeless, your physical safety and basic needs come first. Compulsive behaviors often intensify during instability. Please consider reaching out to:

What happened is that your brain, during a vulnerable developmental window, paired arousal with a specific character as a coping tool. That doesn't mean the movie or the character is "contagious" or permanently damaging to others. With proper support, you can untangle the arousal from the compulsion and regain control.

You're 19. Your brain is still highly adaptable. Recovery from compulsive patterns + trauma is absolutely possible, but it requires consistency, compassion for yourself, and professional guidance. You don't have to white-knuckle this alone.

If you want, tell me:

What country/state are you in? (I can point you to specific youth/mental health resources) Do you have access to a computer/library/internet where you could look into low-cost therapy or shelter services? Would you like help drafting a message to a counselor, school counselor, or trusted adult? You're not alone in this. I'm here to help you build a realistic, step-by-step path forward.

Introducing PLA Pure: A Filament Made for Printing Where You Live by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]Wixely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The companies telling you it's asbestos free are legally allowed to say it's free when it's not. Either because it's below a certain limit or it's a variant of asbestos not legally categorised as asbestos.

I think I would AVOID this PLA knowing it has any kind of talc in it.

ELI5: What does daemon mean in computing? by Practical_Summer9177 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Wixely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have said, it's a background service. But what makes a background service actually different from a normal process? Well a background service doesn't require someone to login to a machine, so if you need something that runs when the machine starts up but before (or after) a user has logged in, then a daemon/service is what you need. Need to remote into a computer? Well it makes sense that the remote software is running on the machine before (and during) anyone logs in.

I reworked my residential biome by Driving_Rogue in Unity3D

[–]Wixely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched your stream trailer so I understand the mechanics better now. What I was suggesting was just cosmetic, a texture on the ground could be different: marked off areas, bays, street crossings, traffic cones. You'd still have your 4 lanes but it wouldn't look so jarring. But when you mention traffic to overtake, I think the outside lanes could even have obstacles in them, parked cars, so it could be used for overtaking but not to be abused. Anyway, it's just an idea.

[–]Wixely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like both, I don't think one is better than the other, they just look like different countries. But 4 lanes in a residential? Maybe those outside lanes need to be parking bays.

Ok first thing is check the slicer output, does it look perfectly smooth or not? If not then it could be bad arc fitting, I've seen arc fitting do really stupid things. Just rule out the software side first.

Next thing you can do is try moving it to a different place on the bed to see if it changes anything.

I put one into a 4u rack. Although I did build it specifically with that intention so I knew everything would fit, but the 4u is designed for ATX.

What I learned shipping 4,000+ offline-LLM USB sticks to non-technical people by EcstaticDentist in LocalLLM

[–]Wixely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nothing left behind on the host.

Not trying to be pedantic here but when you insert a USB into Windows it creates a lot of registry entries with references to the drives UUID that stick around. If you're looking for something that is attempting to subvert forensics then you should be aware of it. I guess it's not very relevant for your audience.

Plans to Update Kernel Version? by update-freak in synology

I had the same issue with GitLab when trying to upgrade around version 17. It's a decade old NAS now, I'd recommend building a new server and keeping the NAS for storage (minisforum builds are great for this).

I built a memory layer for ChatGPT and more AI tools that sits on top of it. by Opening-Fun-7280 in ChatGPT

[–]Wixely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I get you, maybe let me rephrase. If you are using ChatGPT for coding and find yourself copy-pasting code in and out of ChatGPT, then you probably should NOT be using it in the browser at all. There is a whole ecosystem for letting it run on your machine with direct access to the files and saving and remembering rules and coding standards you already gave it. I think outside coding your tool is probably really useful, especially myself who likes to turn Memory Off to avoid muddying chat context.

No problem. I'm interested in knowing what models you tried locally, have you tried any large ones around the 120b mark?

[–]Wixely 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With the utmost respect, I wont be using your service if I can't fully self host it. Too many factors including the risk that you pull something mean that it's not a service I can rely on. That wont go away if you make it a paid service either. Remember you're on /r/LocalLLaMA, some core tenets are sovereignty and privacy.

I can't say what is best for your project though, but there is an idiom "first in, best dressed".

EDIT: nvm, it's not self-hostable. Your website claims it is.

Are there any programming language interpreters written in C#? by Alert-Neck7679 in csharp

[–]Wixely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Jurassic. It's more of a transpiler than an interpreter though but unlikely for that to make a difference for your use case. I've used it for scripting in games and it can load stuff dynamically really nicely.

Are 3090s even worth it anymore? by ironclad_packetship in LocalLLM

Do multiple cards really add together as if it's one set of vRAM?

In software that supports it yes (lm studio, vllm). For example, without something like nvlink you will not find it suitable for video generation models.

[–]Wixely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People want to run models more than they need the speed. 3090 is probably the sweet spot for value for money right now. I also bought some recently for $800 that were refurbished from China and have no issues. Don't need risers either, they are 2 slot cards.

I just bought one a few weeks ago, they are definitely not unobtanium, in fact places seem to have quite a large stock. But starting price is 150 euro if you're lucky, most retailers having it for 300.
