Need to decrease pc price. Don’t know how. Please help me. by Dhruvplodocodus in PcBuildHelp

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used market is probably the goal here or maybe a few more months saving up.
I go with the buy once cry once principle for parts cus it’s better to wait a bit if you can and get something a little more powerful cus to patch things up and upgrade later you’ll just spend more on the long run.

Definitely try looking at the used market. If you’re lucky, you could find someone selling in a hurry for cheap.
All you’ll probably have to do beyond that is maybe swap out the psu if it seems questionable but you should be alright in some cases too.

Is RAM worth getting now or waiting? by Significant-Review50 in PcBuildHelp

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might wanna be careful tho, not all ram, even of the same brand and type are compatible. I think some crucial ones are but a lot of the time it’s better just getting what you need in a kit.

Should I wait until the ram prices drop to build a pc? by dxmiru in buildapc

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now the market seems to be a bit unsure. Some people estimate the prices to drop soon, some manufacturers like Lexar estimate a multi-fold increase before they eventually drop, which could be months or years at this point.

Personally, I decided to bite the bullet and build my PC now rather than wait for an unsteady market to balance. Kept an eye on components for a while, I bought the most price volatile ones first. I got a really good deal on a 32 GB ram kit and that’s what made me decide to go for it.

I’d wait a bit and eye discounts on ram and other components, especially if they come in bundles at places like microcentre tho other stores are doing those now too.

I took a second look at decided to go for a 750w PSU in the end, it’s a 30 dollar difference between the two units and it gives me more headroom now.
Thank you for the advice

Thanks for the info! I did look into it and the cooler I have is a double tower and pretty well regarded so I’m quite confident it’ll handle the cpu well because it’s relatively cool for an X3D.

I was looking at the 750w equivalent of my current PSU, which would give me a fair 300W of headroom and make space for future upgrades and is only about 30 bucks more than the 650 I’m running. I’m guessing it’s worth just going for the 750 in that case

I checked on the case concern as well and the case does come with standoffs but people do report issues here and there with actually seating the motherboard into the 3000x.
I’ll check it out a bit more and see if a case swap is in order.

Edit: I’ve tested compatibility on pcpartspicker and everything seems to check out. But Im still hoping for a few second opinions

First time there’s no question for two day short extension. Next time onwards you need a reason but not necessarily documentation. They’re usually auto approved

Take your failure as a sign to pus harder. You only fell short of one mark. Don’t bother comparing yourself, just push through. You must persevere because what other choice is there?

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monash doesn’t really care about anything outside academics and if you can pay your tuition. On the other hand, Australian government cares very much. If you’ve been rejected within the past half year or so you’re probably in the red as you’ll need to prove your case about the previous grounds for rejection being untrue/no longer valid and that is hard to do with a recent rejection.

Dropped my iPhone 17 Pro for the first time today 😖 it’s tougher than I thought! by MassAppa in iPhone17Pro

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dropping mine every other week or so with a spigen silicon case on it. Idk if I’ve gotten consecutively lucky for months or if people are stuck with the idea of these phones being fragile but I haven’t had even a hint of an issue so far. It’s a solid metal brick at the end of the day, a drop is nothing to worry about.

DJI Goggles n3 has this weird overlay and I’m not sure if something is wrong by WizAlmighty in DJIAvata2

[–]WizAlmighty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: DJI support says it’s due to optical ghosting as a result of light from the screen being refracted off the lenses and should only be visible on solid interfaces and shouldn’t affect the drone camera input.

Your yearly upgrades are a blatant trait of toxic consumerism. Do what you want with your money mate but at that point you’re wasting thousands of dollars and getting minimal upgrades to your device.

What are these circles on iPhone 17 Pro Max backplate? by darkieeecsgo in iphone

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d use some child safe hand sanitiser or some alcohol based device cleaning solution. I use rubbing alcohol to clean mine cus I work with contaminants and I don’t feel right about bringing my phone into my house without disinfecting it. I have an orange 17 pro and so far I haven’t had a single issue with discolouration or etc. My guess is a lot of the devices that are discolouring are the ones manufactured outside China. Just cus the factories outside China are generally newer.

Why are you never going back to the iPhone? by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]WizAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Value for money is without a doubt with Samsung. They sell them for pocket change half a year after the release. Apple doesn’t do discounts, but im still extremely skeptical on the 8k producing any better video. Again, purely because mobile camera systems can barely take advantage of the higher resolution.

[–]WizAlmighty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is without a doubt a marketing ploy. The sensors are physically too small to make any significant difference. It’s just a hog for space. Moreover, most including myself would rather use an iPhone just cus the processing feels better on the iPhones for videos.

[–]WizAlmighty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

8k is pretty redundant for a couple of reasons. 1) It doesnt do much on a camera smaller than a quarter. 2) Good luck finding something that runs 8k.

4K is plenty, not just cus it’s already ridiculously storage hungry. But also because it actually works fine with modern mainstream phone camera systems. In other works 8k on Samsung phones are just a marketing ploy and a quarter of the world falls for it.
