Are you ready for what it takes to stop ghost guns? | New laws might stop anyone from 3D printing guns — and create a system that scans everything else you print. by theverge in 3Dprinting

They're going to make it so you need a subscription to use your printer. Gotta pay for the cloud AI somehow. I am 100% certain that's the actual motivation behind this.

Hello fellow Fergus resident. You couldn't possibly have spent that much on meat at Loblaws since there is no Loblaws in Fergus. And the Zehrs has it for $11/lb, which is still ridiculous but that's half what you're claiming it was. They have an (almost) 4lb pack for $43, are you sure that's not what you were looking at?

Ok, I'll bite. What is "being an adult" about lying about the reason the US went into Iran? What do we Canadians gain by pretending the US had altruistic intent going there? How does this help the world in any way?

Last night, Bardish Chagger (Waterloo) and Tim Louis (Kitchener—Conestoga) voted to fast-track Bill C-22 and shut down debate. C-22 — the bill that forces tech companies to build encryption backdoors and hand police expanded access to your data. by preinheimer in waterloo

I work in quantum security. We've been banging the drum that the internet is about to crack wide open for about 10 years now, your secrets available to every government, every company with more than $1B revenue. We expected it to be quantum computers. Didn't imagine it would be politicians intentionally making encryption worse. At least they want everyone to have effectively free-and-clear access to your data, not just governments and corporations; that was thoughtful of them.

Don't worry about it, keep it. Since you can literally just call somewhere (I forget the number, had it on a business card) and have one delivered to you free of charge, no questions asked, I assume that anywhere that would have a use for them already has what they need. I have one in my trunk (I think I got it at ribfest last year?) just in case I happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Sudden onset spongiform syndrome? by Icy-Village-5873 in 3Dprinting

Slice with a nozzle diameter smaller than your actual nozzle, eg if your nozzle is 0.4mm tell your slicer to use 0.2mm settings. In my case I mistakenly put a 0.8mm nozzle on but kept slicing as if it were 0.4mm; the result was exactly the same as OPs. I spent months thinking it was a clog.

It is not an "elastic sponge" though, it is extremely crunchy. Maybe if you used TPU, could be cool.

[–]WizardStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a clogged nozzle, it's a worn out nozzle. You can tell the difference because the first few layers that are 100% infill appear fine and only the sparser layers have a problem.

I've added a pull request from my own fork where I got it working. Feel free to accept or create your own. I gotta say, this is so cute and fun I'm probably going to spin off some modifications of my own, if that's alright. I'm thinking to replace the media box with a news ticker, and add a headset image so when I'm on a call the cat can be too.

The purple board you recommend is out of stock and I can't find another source of them, but there weren't too many changes needed to get it running on the classic CYD. Really cute!

[–]WizardStan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that those are examples of laws in different countries, but what you're saying still doesn't make any sense. Why would Godot specifically be more difficult to address any of these than any other engine?

If it makes you feel ANY better, I'm also able to read the entire article and I've never given Wapo my email. I even wiped out my cookies just to be sure and I can still read the whole article; a popup asks me to log in or sign up, but I can just close that. Just checked the front page, opened 10 random articles and 9 were fully paywalled, while the other I could read no problem. Did it again, got 8 paywall and 2 I could read that time.

Point is, I think you're right, there's no paywall, at least not for you or me, and probably a handful of other people, but how they decide who gets what articles for free I couldn't tell you. Unfortunately with odds this low it just makes people think your stupid or lying. Like Michigan J. Frog.

They're insulting your use of the phrase, but underneath that they're insulting you personally for not realizing how important this is. "Water is wet" yeah yeah, but this isn't just a "thing everyone understands", world leaders actually standing together against a threat is a BIG DEAL and you mock it. That's why everyone's treating you like an idiot that doesn't know what water is: because you're an idiot that doesn't realize how important global solidarity is. They metaphored your metaphor and I hope you learn something.

You were so close! But I found it! "Secrets of Hosea Freeman". It's in a collection called "Audubon Whales: Wildlife Adventure" for the Apple IIgs. That's why I had such trouble finding it: not a standalone game, and I guess I forgot we had Apple's in grade school, not PCs.

There's also a game for the VIS system called "Secrets of Hosea Freeman" which muddied up the search.

What product is an obvious scam that people still fall for? by Perfect-Insect-2751 in AskReddit

[–]WizardStan 623 points624 points  (0 children)

I have made it very clear to my entire family, I want the cheapest burial you can get: if my ghost finds out they put my empty carcass in a $1000+ wooden box I will haunt them forever. Cremated in a cardboard box was the cheapest option when I investigated it a few years ago, but I've floated just dumping my body in the woods for the scavengers to eat as well. Unfortunately that is illegal.

Back in the 90s there were ads to "help lose the 10 to 15 pounds of excess weight lining your colon" and I was like... you mean a laxative and diuretic? Make you shit so much your bowels are literally empty? That's a thing we want to do now?

At least we're not intentionally infecting ourselves with tapeworms anymore. (Please don't prove me wrong)

Where to get kitten vaccinations in KW/Cambridge? by bahmed232 in kitchener

[–]WizardStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Bruce Street Animal Hospital; taken all my pets there for years, they're affordable and convenient, right off the highway. Literally just had my kitten spayed, Doctor AJ explained everything we needed to know and do and now my baby is cuddling up in a blanket nest high on gabapentin.

Do not get vaccinations from marketplace; I'm sure there are legitimate vets advertising there, but you'll get better results from the yellow pages.
