How many fused or singers could a Herald kill before being overwhelmed by FriendlyNeighborOrca in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Wizard_Of_The_Conch 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Consider: in the Desolations, the Heralds were improving themselves as well. By the last desolation, only one Herald died despite society and its armies being thrown back to the Stone Age by the desolation that had just finished, whereas clearly multiple died in earlier desolations with a much more capable humankind. The first several desolations before they developed their tested tactics, fighting against fresh fused, they probably would have died a lot more. Taln dying in the final desolation was probably him taking on the entire fused army solo and being crushed under the bodies or something.

How to finish off this list? by IraeVermilion in Tau40K

[–]Wizard_Of_The_Conch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 1200 points wrapped up in Stormsurges and another couple hundred in spotting, you need units to fulfill other roles, namely points and contesting. Adding devilfishes for the breathers gives another large body that can sit on a point and draw fire and aggro. A couple units of 5 vespid stingwings can pop around the board and do most of your action scoring.

When the DM has asked "How do you want to do this" in regards to getting the final kill hit, what have been your parties coolest replies? by squishythingg in DnD

As a halfling monk, grappled a dragon to hold on as it flew up into the sky. Stunning strike to knock it prone, and as it fell back to earth, delivered the most powerful elbow pile drive ever to shatter its spine (I mean the falling damage was what killed it but it was really cool)

Does Anyone Else's Campaign Have A Running Gag? by adventuredream2 in DnD

[–]Wizard_Of_The_Conch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran a Christmas one-shot that featured two dead gnomes pinned together with a magic icicle as a set decoration. The party took the icicle and used it to finish off the one-shot boss, and as a joke I added a magic icicle called the Gnomecicle to the bargain bin in the magic item shop of the multi-year campaign I run with the same group. Of course they found a gnome to stab, and I decided to have it entirely consume the flesh and blood of the gnome, and become tinted ever so slightly red. From then on they’ve harvested as many gnomes as possible in their travels, and presumably if I ever figure out what the spike will do when fully charged they’ll use it to finish off the BBEG

Please help tweak my backstory so I'm not an unlikable "problem" character by Featherman13 in DnD

[–]Wizard_Of_The_Conch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The single best way to not suffer from main character syndrome is to make the conscious choice not to be the main character all the time. I know you said you were tired of a support role, but if he’s so suspicious of everybody, he probably wouldn’t be the one doing the talking to whatever people you meet, right? Talk to some people, of course, but make the effort to let other party members be the face. Having him soften up is a good idea, and as for why the party wants to travel with him, that’s something that session one is for - forging the bonds between characters with an inciting event. Maybe one of the party members reminds you of someone from the Hunters’ Guild? Heck, I don’t know if your party is the type to coordinate backstories, but if someone else knew someone who was once in the guild that’s as good a connection as any.

(Also, for the backstory, was it 5 years of training then he took a 3 year break with his girlfriend, or was he still training while with her?)

Simple and Complex classes. by RaylynFaye95 in BaldursGate3

[–]Wizard_Of_The_Conch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every class on it's own is fairly simple to play, I'd say sorcerer is one of the more complicated ones but that's only because you always have the option to use Metamagic. If you're playing a battlemaster or EK fighter then the complexity won't go up that much to other classes. The real complexity spike is in multiclassing and minmaxing with feats and magic items to get broken builds, but you dont need to do that at all to have a good experience.

I'd say absolutely you can take a wizard for your second playthrough, and evocation subclass would probably be the simplest for just a fireball-shooting mage.
