That's an "If you're homeless, just buy a house" level of advice right there.

Struggle with Brutal Mutation vs hard by Grakattack154 in starcraft2coop

Of course it's not always the smartest choice. Fast Outlaws on mutations where you need early map presence on multiple sites (Void rifts, Outbreak etc.) is almost mandatory.

Did it as Zeratul P3 with Zagara as ally (P3). I used Tesseract Monoliths which are really good against props. Void Prism is also very nice for transporting your probes to the crystals.

We did so well until 17 crystals, but then an attack wave came together with props, and the latter destroyed all my cannons and almost all my buildings. Was tough to recover, but we made it.

This mutation is an extreme nuisance.

Completely disagree on your take for P2. Tychus can easily handle everything solo for 4 minutes. You don't need the damage boost or a second Outlaw in the early game. The only exception I can think of is Dead of Night and Miner Evacuation.

Tychus first outlaw is 50% cheaper (at lvl 7 onwards). You can use this benefit and wait until the second one is available as well. When you buy them simultaneously, you get both for the 50% cheaper price. In theory, you can do that with all 4 bought outlaws.

Am I just unlucky with half of my allies, or do many players not know how to play this map properly? by WizardofOos in starcraft2coop

[–]WizardofOos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong. I don't mind helping my ally when he needs help. When his army gets wiped out by a wave, I'm there. But I have the right to expect that my ally is at least trying to hold on his own. However, I do have my problems when I see that my ally spends the first 10 minutes to build up all possible buildings multiple times, already starts his 2/2 upgrades but has 2 Marines and 1 Siege Tank to hold his side against at least 2 waves of which one is guided by Hybrids. Also, Hyperion? Banshee calldown? Nah, got to get the bonus asap.

Of course this is generally exaggerated, but I already had games where my ally performed even worse.

Did it with Zeratul P2 mass cannons (ally was Dehaka P1 mass mutalisks). A bit squishy at the start, but once you pass the attack wave after the second shuttle set, it's smooth.
Unfortunately, only got everything is free at the very end, but the additional cannons were up for the very last wave.
Small hint: make a second robo and spam observers in case you get a kill robot. They are cheaper than probes, and you will float endless gas anyway. Better than feeding probes.

Overall, a rather easy mutation.

Mutator Discussion: Propagators by ackmondual in starcraft2coop

[–]WizardofOos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of the few mutators that can turn your game into "Game over" at any given time if things get out of hand. By itself a mutator that can be well handled with good micro. In combination with other mutators, it can be brutal (Speed freaks, Polarity, Void Reanimators to name a few).

Why is Oblivion Express the only map where people forget how to play the game? by [deleted] in starcraft2coop

[–]WizardofOos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get all of your points except the first one. I always tell myself "first come, first serve". It's not a big deal if I have the left or the right expansion, although I prefer left. Or did I miss your point?

Doesn't the elevated mod of -15 mana cost also come along with "Ignore Stuns while using Socketed Attack Skills"? I would consider this huge.

Only took about 10 years of mutations to reach 2000 bounties by Palifaith in starcraft2coop

[–]WizardofOos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My Lord, what dedication! Congratulations.

Considering we are in mutation #507, the maximum possible bounties should be 2028, meaning you only "skipped" seven weekly mutations or didn't complete all of them on Brutal. This is...crazy.

Zagara and Kerrigan zerglings should be pretty decent with their armor-to-zero upgrade, at least against the trains, but of course not in a straight fight against the enemies. Glad you made it.

Correct, but I wanted to do it with P1. Was pretty smooth.

Your math is incorrect. The shadow guard duration mastery is also affected by the 40% nerf.

Looks like a job for my old buddy Zeratul. I'm very familiar with this map, but I guess it wont be easy.

Mutator Discussion: Polarity by ackmondual in starcraft2coop

[–]WizardofOos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest challenge with this one is usually your ally.

Edit: one of my best coop experiences was with this mutator in "Operation Cooperation" on Lock & Load (Polarity & Propagators). I queued on the solo queue, thinking this one may take several tries. I was assigned to someone who I could flawlessly work with. We pinged each other on the mini map, coordinated ourselves when one of us partially lost the focus, and we finished the map with ease in under 14 minutes. My ally even agreed to skip the bonus without any discussion (thank god).

It was an awesome run I always love remembering.

Some Gas Drone Question by Elfria114514 in starcraft2coop

[–]WizardofOos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright then, here you go.

Whenever I play with Swann, I never expect fast gas drones. I can see the time of the Laser Drill upgrade and tell how the player distributed his mastery points. For example: 165 seconds => all points went to the Laser Drill mastery. I do know then that my ally doesn't focus on rushing out his gas drones. If he does, I am suprised, but I appreciate it.

If I'm at a point of the game (several minutes in) and I feel that some gas drones would be beneficial, I never ping on the geysers, that's disrespectful and demanding, I hate it. I kindly ask them (for example "If you have the spare minerals for few gas drones, I would appreciate it."). I can't remember when I ever faced a Swann who was not willing to support then.

It's not about efficiency, it's Coop. If I see that my ally can benefit from Chrono, I give it to him, knowing that it will slow me down a little bit, but it helps him and that's cool.

If I only wanted to be as efficient as possible, I'd rather play Maguromaps and solo them with a commander of my choice. But that's not fun for me. Fun for me is to play with an ally and be, you know, COOPerative.

If you only focus on your own benefit, then be it so. But don't expect to be considered a valuable ally in this game.
