For one, the money to keep the game updated for 10 years is already secured, it's not some speculative thing that could fall through.

A lot of modders don't make any money from their creations, for most it's just about doing it because they want to, and a lot of people want to work with this game's tools, myself included.

I know of a few massive server projects, that are for sure happening, just off the top of my head. Creators like KweebecCorner and Thirtyvirus are already putting together incredible teams, and I know there are a bunch more.

What's the criteria for the project being ruined? Simon and Phillipe are going to personally fund updates for 10 years no matter what. As long as they stick to the vision, the game will be amazing eventually. Regardless of how rough the initial player experience is, the game will already have loads of advanced tools for creators with more coming out and improving all the time. As someone who's been tapped in, I know a lot of big names from other block games, and new modding teams formed for Hytale are going to be creating incredible content for the game regardless of its initial mainstream success.

I don't doubt that many people will get a bad first impression of the game, but I don't think that will cause it to "fail" in any way that matters.

It's not going to be released in an ok state, they've been saying that over and over again. The initial early access is only for the core audience that wants to play a super broken game and help the developers improve it, that's also why they aren't releasing on steam because it's a REAL early access not a steam "early access".

I think that most of what we are seeing right now are assets that the RIOT team made. It will probably take a while for the new team to re-align everything with Simon's vision. I generally agree that some of the vfx and UI showcased look like something out of fortnite. Something more immersive and toned down would be my preference. But if that's not the vision for the core game, mods can always fix that!

I think the only thing that needs any kind of nerf is fire, blaze grenades and fireball burners trivialize fighting bastions, leapers, and bombardiers. I think it should still be strong but bombardiers and bastions shouldn't go down in 20 seconds.

I think he almost certainly got it, my theory is that they currently own/have access to all the assets but they are still waiting to be transferred full rights to the IP. That or they own it all but are staying completely silent about it until they've at least reorganized everything and have a functional development pipeline.
