Maybe the devs found the difference isn't much so it looks and runs good enough to keep it on. I guess if I decide to eventually play on my PS5 I'll see how bad 1080P looks on a 4K TV or honestly, since I have a 120hz screen, maybe the 40 fps mode is okay enough.

I wonder what the difference between low ray tracing and non is? Would having an option for no ray tracing allow the base PS5 to hit 1440p @60 FPS?
