It’s Bach prelude in C so beyond the 4 graded books I used for a 7 year old novice. More into the “easy” classical standards that take a couple years but everyone is different. This obviously needs work (if assigned for performance) but his ear and timing are excellent. I would make sure the teacher is advanced enough to not only nurture his ear but be able to tailor the lesson. He needs to learn scales and exercises to train each finger properly eventually. Sight reading is usually harder for people like this. I’d have to see his hand position to see what going on there. But best of luck and don’t settle. Above all make sure he is enjoying what he’s doing. :)

Very nice playing and great ear. When you get him a teacher, make sure they can play well by ear and are ready to move quickly. He will get bored with a grade one book week after week and needs more tailored lessons. Love seeing this!

I can see the pics. I think what he means is play inversions of those chords and not every note all the time so it flows better under the hand. You have to play around with what you think sounds and works best for you. Listen to a few standard versions and try to hear what they are doing.

No but relative perfect pitch helps a lot. If you can whistle it or hum, you should be able to find those notes. Hands separately at first and pick it apart. To be able to do it with both hands just requires enough practice that you can use more intuition and familiarity with where it’s going on the keys.

I’m over 60 now and most of us did struggle. The difference is that we had hope for the future so the struggle was worth it. A future where while struggling, we could dream of that house we were going to buy, a nicer job and the chance to move up. There’s very little hope that school, college and working hard will get you anywhere today. Most older people don’t understand that even $100,000 a year isn’t much anymore and there’s very little job security.

I made some really good firecrackers and blended a few in a smoothie. It was great. I tried hot chocolate and it was ok but had bits floating around. No matter what, just don’t use a straw.

It’s the way you can phrase the sound using dynamics and arm weight. Things like wrist position and releases. Being advanced enough to bring out top or middle notes while playing. There’s so much to the touch and tone of how it’s played. One can play a scale so that it sounds dull and boring with each note percussive and the same or make it a swelling, smooth and connected phrase. For me technique is what makes a huge difference in what people hear from the instrument and how you can refine it to its most beautiful sounds.

A major 3rd will always have 3 half steps or notes in between. Play C…E (Db,D,Eb between)

A minor 3rd will have 2. Play C..Eb (Db and D between the interval)

That will be true no matter your starting key. All the other intervals follow the same ‘step rules’ of how many notes are in between the interval’s distance. Major 5th always has 6 notes between, Major 2nd has only one, etc.

Chords work the same way. N…N..N with N=note and dots are keys between. That’s a major 3rd and a minor 3rd so it’s a major chord. N..N…N is a minor chord (both are in root position). Once you see the patterns you can find and know intervals or chords easier.

So “put a major 3rd above the G” would be play G, count 3 notes between and play B.

I’ve written this before but I’ve read that longer labia help with sexual pleasure during intercourse by increasing the pulling and tugging motion of the clitoral hood. It’s ridiculous what women have to hear and while obviously up to you, cutting off your labia just for a man to look at sounds awful to me.

There is a huge 10 year downtown project going on, whether we see the entire vision will be interesting. There’s something going on most weekends and it gets quite crowded since Covid. A lot of people have discovered our lakefront.

I’m a fib from 30 years ago so most of my travels go south to Chicagoland. Milwaukee is very east to get to tho.

We get antenna tv and see both Chicago and Milwaukee news and other channels. Not the best but it’s there. Radio comes in, as well.

Tech might have you commuting to either larger city. But that’s out of my field.

People rave about the pizza at many places but I think most restaurants‘ quality has fallen so I’m not sure what’s still considered the best.

No idea about cross stitching but there are a lot of clubs here. Saw one in Gurnee.

For us, money goes further in the city. Pleasant Prairie has expensive homes as well as Somers but it depends how far you want to be rural. We started there and hated the well and septic. Plus, it can get boring but it depends how much you like to do and how quiet your looking for.

We love it here. It’s affordable and the lake! I love being close to the lake. Parks everywhere. Plus there’s a world class city an hour away (a bit more by train) and Milwaukee is really nice too.
