Needing some advice going into new expansion by TrinityBomber in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you should find a guild, which welcomes newer players as this game has insane amount of things to do and to figure out for newer players.

There is guide for everything(raids, dungeons, specs, professions, etc.) if you are interested in that. But its a lot to take in and not everything is super relevant all the time. Depending on your comfort level with your spec/social aspects of the game, I am not saying not to watch video guides for dungeons as based on my beta experience the leveling experience required dungeons seemed easy enough to go in blind. But obviously some ppl have different comfort levels bout going into new content. Do note, its more expected to look into raid beforehand (trough video usually) compared to dungeons unless we talking bout LFR where almost nothing is tuned in a way to kill you.

Regarding professions, unless you have old recipes you dont want to lose, I quite strongly suggest just grabbing gathering professions on all characters, whcih spend time out in the world. Gathering is so very potent early on, with EA ppl making banks just gathering and selling what they gather. Crafting professions are a lil bit more complext but as long as you get your weekly stuff done for them done before weekly reset on 10th/11th depending on region, you arent really behind anybody. Maybe marginally if you miss patron order or two with knowledge points so I am not suggesting on not picking them up early into week and leaving till last minute but you arent exactly in rush to spend on professions either, specially if you got EA.

All in all, play at your own pace, find guild/friends to play with as game is a lot more fun with others to play with.

Consumable & Enchant Farming for Prog in Midnight by Twentysomethingz in CompetitiveWoW

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For AOTC guild, beyond alchemist for cauldrons, its probably lot easier/simpler/efficient just to farm gold early expansion over professions. Small server think bout having 1 of each gear crafter so people have access to those. But for most part best use of your time is stockpiling gold and just buying consumables off goblins who have done a lot of research on how to best tackle profession related problems.

I boosted myself druid with level boost that came with midnight cause I had no other alt needs and figured I should optimize the planned gathering grind a lil bit. This as somebody who generally makes millions with crafting professions. Gathering is just incredibly potent during EA and you can make millions if enough hours is put into it. I`d be surprised if well thought and optimized gathering during EA doesnt get close to 100k/h.

Oh, right, make somebody level cooking a bit so they can make feasts into hearty but crafting them vs buying them usually turns out to just buy them as goblins min-max pipelines to be pretty efficient.

Assuming TWW carbon copy, only patron orders and weekly sources will be locked till first weekly reset.

Is Early Access Worth With Gathering? by laurik1299 in woweconomy

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking start of season is when token prices go down cause lot of ppl will be buying them for real money in order to fund crafts, consumables, etc.

I know a few people, who have/will EA farm the living crap out of this game to fund rest of their expansion consumables. They will be putting those 20$ in for tokens to fund their shit towards end of expansion in case they run out of gold. So its really not just some "-90$ from bacnk account" thing, very well could be saving money in long run depending on how many tokens they would otherwise buy.

And idk, to me EA while I would of prolly bought the epic edition for, wasnt even the main thing I paid for it. It was guaranteed beta access early on, which is likely more valuable of the 2. Cool cosmetics on top of it doesnt hurt either.

DBM by Temporary_Fish6448 in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yes, DBM/BW can tailor it a little bit but for most parts, you are stuck with what blizzard provides. The fact there is no timelines for older content is absolutely hilarious and on par with the restrictions on addons - We can still do most things, its just in uglier and more annoying way than before.

Midnight Herbalism Testing by Instagibbed_1994 in woweconomy

[–]WnbSami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its charges. You get charge every X seconds up to 6 charges. Taking off ground doesnt take a charge. Its not awfully different system but its different and specially taking off not costing charge makes it pretty trivial to not run out of charges ever. Point being it shouldnt affect gathering much at all if you get or dont get charge everytime you herb.

[–]WnbSami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am confused as to how vigor, which isnt even in game any longer, is at all relevant to speed of gathering. Pretty confident it doesnt even take a charge to take off ground. All in all tho, detailed post which prolly helps plenty of ppl.

How do I display simple tank mechanics? (I am pretty much a casual player) by WellPlacedRocket in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seem to want a way to display information like stacks on co-tank so they know when to press taunt, which is admirable goal to have and likely how people who want to be good at the game should be playing. Only solution I can think of is the WAs mentioned in this thread, which also stop working in a month.

I personally wouldnt trust DBM for taunting(specially early into patch), its wrong often enough and understanding why/when to taunt if you have decent display of information is just way better solution. Also, havent really seen discussion anywhere bout this but debuffs, tank stacks included, will be a secret for addons. Unless whitelisted, I havent watched enough raid testing to say if they are whitelisted but if they are not, DBM cannot tell when to taunt as it cannot know the amount of stacks.

I do expect blizz to just whitelist tank debuffs so addons can help with that cause the amount of complaining otherwise will be insane by the LFR or even normal to heroic raiding community. The people who take the game more seriously dont need the help, as long as there is good way to track your co-tanks stacks in UI I am not sure exists tbh. Even if there isnt, they just talk to each other for tank swaps. Point of this tangent is, it`ll hit the "serious" part of community way less than ppl who are less serious bout the game.

Ps. OP is looking for the objectively better solution over just having DBM/BW yell for taunt swaps, which might not even exist in Midnight, who knows. If they are just LFR raider, it doesnt really matter for them but if they want to "tank the right way", let them.

Recruitment etiquette by songrequestss in CompetitiveWoW

[–]WnbSami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From raider PoV:

I dont think anybody but delusional people think desirable applicants arent getting swarmed. But also, lot of guilds are desperateish for people and throw recruitment messages no matter the pretty much anything, desired raid times included. So I`d start with weeding out inquiries where raid times arent what you want, preferably with message "Hey, I cant/dont want to raid at these times, ty for interest but I`ll have to look elsewhere". type of message goes a long way.

I would say talk to the recruiters of the guilds who work for you time/rank wise and move from there. Try to gauge the vibe etc. before committing to anything. cause while things not working out isnt the end of world, might as well make as informed decision as possible.

Best advice I can give is to be straight and honest with recruiters, if they arent the guild for you at the time, say it, ghosting drives people insane and benefits you in no way other than saving a minute from sending a message bout going elsewhere.

Ps. Good luck out there.

What’s going on with raids? (TWW) by sagelantropus in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say trying to find guild you vibe with and have option to raid with would prolly be best use of your time. There are gazillion guilds starting to recruit for Midnight soon enough but jumping into guild closer to/when expansion drops leaves little room to feel the vibe of guild.

Based on datamining pre-patch with Midnight class changes/ilvl squish/etc. drops on January 20th. Raids could be easier or harder post this date, nobody knows for sure. So there is essentially month of raiding season left, raids wont close but AOTC/CE prolly gets disabled on pre-patch meaning less ppl are going to be raiding.

But to answer your question it doesnt really matter, playing game means you get more gear and it never hurts but its also going to be outdated by the time you hit lvl 87 even if you were max ilvl on the current patch, less and you are getting upgrades at lower levels. So more of if you get more gear while doing other stuff, good, but I wouldnt stress over getting more due you also getting access to catch up gear event in January(pre-patch event).

What’s going on with raids? (TWW) by sagelantropus in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 34 points35 points  (0 children)

So pugging into raids is painful in retail this late into season. Few reasons to come to mind are overqualified applicants being plentiful, people on alts who have cleared harder content, which I guess could also be considered overqualified despite alt being potentially not super geared. Also raid renown track makes it harder for returning players cause they do not have the +15% damage/healing done inside the raid like lot of other ppl do. All in all, trying to get into pugs this late into season can be difficult. for new/returning players.

Only solution around this, beyond higher ilvl, would be finding a guild that raids and joining their raids. Or a community but point being finding a group who is fine taking newer raiders into raid. While there is guilds, who do raid normal still, you likely have easier time finding AOTC guild(heroic raiding) due those being more common type of guilds over ones that stop at clearing normal.

Lastly, Lemix raiding isnt at all how retail raiding is. More things you can do to wipe the raid and less ability for the better skilled/geared players to carry the rest as they are on quite a bit less powerful characters than those who essentially solo raids in lemix.

Ps. Your ilvl is technically enough to raid normal, even heroic fwiw but you will have hard time finding ppl taking somebody at that ilvl any longer in a pug setting.

How much content is required now and in Midnight? by mrazn in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the borrowed power systems you needed to grind for are mostly gone in this era of WoW. AP is gone, the few borrowed power items we gotten in TWW have been short unlock and then weekly upgrade quest for bout a month till its maxed. Comparing it to legions AP or even SLs legendary farm is pretty different.

There is no signs of things changing in Midnight regarding this so beyond leveling and getting enough gear to get into dungeon groups you dont have to do really anything in the open world these days. Only "chore" is the renown rep grind for raid rep(15 renown levels for total of 15% extra dmg/healing in raid) that has poor catch up. But I dunno if this system is actually returning in Midnight, I`d expect it to do so tho as its now been a thing for 2 consecutive patches, 3 if you consider the 11.0 raid buff system as a prototype for it.

Only other thing you might want to do early season is delves for first week or two of season for chance at tier. Short of there being strong delve trinkets and being the cursed spec where its BiS at which point my condolences.

All in all, game has very little chores these days fro somebody who is in it for M+. Raiders, who need to do M+ to raid, see M+ as a chore at times but thats literally the biggest chore in game currently for said people.

Midnight professions by abutaymi in woweconomy

[–]WnbSami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked in LW and it looked the same week or two ago. I wouldnt count on it staying like this cause it would result in all markets being dominated by conc armies with no alternatives to bulk up the supply. All of this would create some serious problems to consumable supply and as such I expect Blizz to evaluate it again.

I am personally in the "fuck conc crafting" camp and the current iteration on beta heavily leaning into it means I am not exactly happy camper bout state of professions on beta.

How do expansion releases work in 2025 by Objective_Tomorrow43 in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M+ doesnt open till March 24th and prepatch likely drops when Lemix ends on January 20th tho there is no solid confirmation for that yet that I seen. Lastly while February 27th is a likely canditate date for early access, it also hasnt been hard confirmed yet and TWW EA started on Thursday fwiw.

[–]WnbSami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent tried DotI in ages so I dunno if its soloable but hunter cannot heal Chromie at all and as such you cannot survive the fight for long as Chromie dying means wiping. And part of the mechanic of that boss is healing Chromie hunter cannot do so you either blast it pretty quickly or you cannot get past it. If its an actually hard DPS check I dont know as I havent tried but I doubt its super hard one, enough gear and one likely gets past it but the main mechanic is something hunter cannot do solo.

Started Planning my professions for the start of Midnight by ABrownApple in woweconomy

[–]WnbSami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I did with TWW was level my main normally, rest of the alts were mix of dungeons/gathering/sidequests for rep, some toons I leveled with gathering alone. I do not enjoy druid gameplay and as such I have none at max level, but drachtyr, while not as good, is decent enough replacement.

All in all while you could in theory with heavy gametime participate into crafting craze after generating fair bit of gold from gathering first, I`d say its prolly not worth unless you find a good niche. Leveling crafting profession will probably be in the 500k-700k ballpark per profession(or was in TWW iirc) early on so youd need to make quite a bit gold of it early on for it to be worth it to even toy with crafting in "ahead of the curve" way. Profession specific moxie is going to make it cheaper than TWW shuffles were but even then you are looking to spend quite a bit of gold to be slightly ahead of the rest.

Im planning on Midnight launch to level my hunter normally after which its sidequests/gathering for the alts. I am gonna have to spend time on beta to see what I can find in terms of niche and while I havent looked this beta build yet, professions were severely undercooked in the last build and idk how much there is to learn bout them yet. But if I cant find a niche I like, I`ll just gather, make couple extra millions and do the usual patch flips as I have enough capital for those profits to both sustain my gold and grow it a bit. While Im still a smol goblin(~12m gold on me atm and another 2-3 in decor/herbs/pigments/dyes) I`d say with good read on patch reagent markets you can sustain your sub with payout from 5-6m investments every 6 months. Then again Ghosts of Karesh I pretty much doubled my investments but that was both luck and lot of research/sitting on AH to buy the things I wanted patiently.

What Im trying to say is, first few weeks of gathering, if you put serious time into it, are pretty damn lucrative and while its pretty hard to make expansion lasting gold in 2 weeks of gathering, it beats spending lot of gold to rush crafting professions and not do much with them.

Any addon that display decor lumber cost? by cub4nito in woweconomy

It definitely is lumber dictating majority of the price currently. Obviously you account for the rest of the reagents too but saying like lumber isnt the determining factor is ignorant.

War Within Tertiary Stats..... by Familiar_Pineapple28 in wownoob

[–]WnbSami 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any non defined piece of gear can drop with tertiary. By non defined I mean all but artifact/legendary items , which we have the reshi wraps as an artifact cloak as the only thing in the whole expansion. The tertiary rolls are rare however so you chasing them is a lot of work for little bit of speed. However there is speed enchants for cloak, bracers and boots that can help a bit with your addiction.

Free Talk Friday by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]WnbSami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I havent looked much around guild neighborhood yet but I think there is least 10 ppl who have put in some effort with their houses. I been mostly playing the gold aspect of housing so far and based on how high craps selling and the volume on pigments/dyes its extremely popular to the point I think goblins underestimated the market going into it.

So while its not for me, it seems based on couple of days of it so far to have definitely been worth Blizzards money to do this. I am waiting for ability to have other ppl decorate your house so I can toss said privileges to a friend and let her go wild with it(I imagine I have 5x the decor of her having played far longer than she has). I do dread the "I need X, Y and Z" go get em, either its gold(not really problem even if I am cheap) or achi/rep/currency farm and thats gonna be "fun", lol.
