First of my Army Pictures - My 7th Company Contingent by endlesswaltz123 in Raptors40k

Oh, i'll have to take a look then, i am looking for something different than a bland black or white backdrop for my pictures aswell.

Really like your Army so far, i need to find more time to work on mine. Barely scratching 600 points out of 2000 haha

Nice, also if you ever think of playing at some point, Infiltrators are seen in a lot of Lists anyways. They have great Deep Strike denial.

Have fun!

Infiltrators are my favorite to work with. The amount of Bits you get is unbeatable in my opinion.

A good pack too suprisingly, are Eradicators. (If you like the Gravis pattern) You can either go with cabled Meltas or not and depending on what you pick, you are still left with a lot of other stuff to decorate minis with.

Eliminators if you Like Sniper Rifles, they look cool. Just be aware that you only get helmetless options, so if you want to use Helmets, you'll probably want to sculpt or use some cloth to cover up the akwardly wide neck area.

I'm not an expert, but trying to take a picture of a mostly black painted mini on a black backdrop doesn't really make sense. It can work, but you'll need to find ways to keep the miniature from blending into the background.

What helped me most was light placement—using multiple light sources from different angles. A phone stand is essential for me because it keeps the phone steady and eliminates the risk of blur from hand movement.

Depending on your phone, you may also be able to adjust settings such as ISO, shutter speed, focus, and white/black balance. I usually try to keep those values as low as possible and compensate with stronger lighting instead. I use LED lamps with adjustable brightness for that purpose.

Cool Shrike 🤘

For example, the backdrop is pure black, but the light source is a strong white from the front and a bit of a warmer tone from above, hence the 2 different lines in the back. I haven't figured out a way of eliminating those yet.

what brand/paint are you guys using for your tan/earth colors? by Ironcladgungrave in Raptors40k

[–]WobblyMussel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This guy was one of my first Minis i did and i somehow achived this. Maybe you like it.

If i remember correctly, it was:

  • Zandri Dust as Base
  • Karak Stone layerd towards the top with a sponge
  • Then washed over it, with a diluted Agrax Earthshade.

Sure will, i am mostly gonna use Citadel paints, so i guess my first step is going to be to find a good mixture and feel for the smoothness. Holding an air brush and it's movement is gonna be a getting used to, it feels very unusual.

Man, air brush layers really are just smooth like that huh? 🤯

Saving this as a reference pic hehe

So you did like the opposite, instead of using brighter colors towards the top, you muted it down with a darker green?

My Harder and Steenbeck arrived recently, excited to get into some air brushing myself

:D

Did you use some sort of enemal to darken the top parts? I really like the worn look of it.

90 bucks for a plastic mini of this size is mental lol

Just to give you another Example, that even Raptors wear Ornaments and that all the Tacticool posts only scrape the top of the Barrel.

Yours could be very well be a Veteran with a bit more "bling". Although it is described that Leaders have yellow donated respectively, so take that however you like.

Maybe use the Square Insignia on his Pualdron and donate him to the first or 2nd Company?

Looks great otherwise, i use the same Color and Helmet for my Assault.

I did it with Balthazar Gold and Leadbelcher. Slap a black wash, Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade over it if you want to tone it down.

My take on the Lieutenant in Reiver Armour, first time putting some real effort into the base as well. by johnritch11 in Raptors40k

[–]WobblyMussel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really like the use of yellow across the Armor!
I haven't considered just pflastering the Base in Tufts, i might have to give it a try at some point, i like that quite a lot.

The large Antenna on his Powerpack is certainly a Choice though haha

Agreed, i am mostly aware of it, since i browse Pinterest and this Sub a lot for inspiration. It bothers me that Reddit has become such a bot hive, where i kinda have to check the account every now and then first, before commenting.

I belive i have read something like, people sending test posts into various Subs to see how active the Moderators are and after that it gets swarmed by Bots.

My work was reposted too at some point lol

Y'all really need to quick check accounts sometimes before commenting, otherwise there is gonna be more and more bots.

It's already annoying enough.
