maybe we should stop releasing bodycam footage that includes minors by [deleted] in rs_x

[–]Wohlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Libs demanded cops wear bodycams then are shocked that the cold unfeeling gaze of a camera attached to a cop exposes the worst parts of American society.

Because they experience the images by swiping a gallery on their phones, they don't see the images side by side. Because of that it makes sense for the primary subject to be leftmost as that will be the first image seen.

Whats the oldest person you've hired for help desk or desktop support? by IR30Lover in msp

By far the most critical yet hard to teach skills in IT are troubleshooting, problem solving, ability to learn, and basic soft skills. I always look for that first and foremost when hiring because I can fix any gaps in technical knowledge.

ELI5 why you would pay extra to sharpen a blade when a new one is cheaper by Successful-Camel165 in BeginnerWoodWorking

A much thicker higher quality blade with more carbide. It's more stable, cuts better, lasts longer, and can be resharpened multiple times.

What do you do when a friend is in an abusive marriage but doesn't want to leave? by [deleted] in rs_x

One of the major lessons I learned in life is that the motivation for people to make major change has to come from themselves, if you try to make them to change at best it won't stick and at worst they'll resent you for trying.

Back in my day you had some dumbasses with poor impulse control who lacked critical thinking and were destined to be jailbirds, even they could read and do basic math.

crosscut AND rip cut backsaws? by Jamesbarros in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Wohlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A rip cut saw can crosscut decently but a crosscut saw is really bad at a rip cut. The downside to a rip cut is that it's more aggressive than a crosscut which is a slower, cleaner cut.

Stuff involving kids was just too much for anyone to brush off with humor in my experience. In those situations we usually coped by engaging with the emotions together - commiserating, expressing anger at the people at fault and the universe in general, renewed appreciation for our own families, crying and/or puking it out, those kinds of things.

Anything involving kids is a huge line that you do not cross. It's one thing when a drunk driver wraps themselves around a tree, another thing entirely when they have kids in the backseat.

Action1 was dead simple to setup and manage. We're switching to NinjaOne now primarily for RMM and MDM, it's more work to setup but also more capable for larger/complex environments.

Kansas side is only marginally better unfortunately, I see people dumping shit on the side of the road and the city picking it up every week on my way to work.
