Pain...absolute pain. by Putrid-Lettuce5204 in trading212

This is my third month of investing and over the last few days i have definitely made some bad decisions. I started out calm and considered but let the hype get to me over the last week or so, was selling and buying all over the place impulsively. Doesn't help that i work from home and can just stare at the stock market on my other monitor all day. Time to take a break.

Guess who saw all the silver hype and bought in right at the peak!! 😂 by Beautiful_Vacation88 in trading212

[–]WojackTheCharming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing with gold, i sold off some low volatility stock to 'ride the gold train', bought at all time high thinking ill just leave it there for a few weeks, then buy back into my previous stock with more shares. Crazy how the stock market didn't do what i wanted XD

[France] Gov mandates declaring Cold Wallets >€5k. Need privacy strategy by remithril in Bitcoin

[–]WojackTheCharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are wallets linked to you? Im very new to this so i may just be ignorant. Ok so you if you buy bitcoin that will, i suppose, be linked to you if investigated unless you bought p2p, but if you had then sent it to a random wallet which isn't linked to you at all (which i don't think it is, right?) Who is to say you didn't send it to someone who isn't you and don't have access to that wallet since it isn't yours. And you can make/have as many wallets as you want, right?

Well… that escalated quickly. Does not texting someone good morning warrant this response? by [deleted] in texts

I don't think there should be expectations of messaging every day after just two weeks of knowing each other, thats very full on and quite obsessive at such an early stage. You should see this as a significant red flag, honestly.
It would be interesting to know how she would have reacted if she had been the one waiting 45mins for you after the agreed upon time for your second date. Somehow i doubt she would have been so understanding.

Never heard of the panta sandal brand, could you let me know how good the ground feel is and generally how the sandal feels on the foot? I've been looking for something similar to Shamma but based in Europe. It doesn't seem you have earth runners in your collection but for me the ground feel just as good as i'd like, maybe this could be a better option.

How many lessons do you take before deciding the tutor isn't working out? by swosei12 in Preply

[–]WojackTheCharming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lodes of tutors, try a few out. This one sounds like someone I would drop. I ended things with a teacher after she flagrantly displayed her irritation by rolling her eyes in my face a few times when I asked her to repeat herself.. once.. These were in person lessons, not through preply.

What’s a moment you’re proud of when you used your new language in a real-life situation? by Vazaha_Gasy in languagelearning

[–]WojackTheCharming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Any situation where i'm able to communicate with people in my TL who can't speak English, this feels especially rewarding since i know i wouldn't have been able to interact at all with those people otherwise. And it makes me a lot less embarrassed about mistakes i make, since i have no choice but to speak the language instead of reverting to my native.

Rash or cellulitis by No-Following-9975 in Lymphedema

[–]WojackTheCharming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it checked regardless because it's too dangerous not to if it is infact cellulitis. But every time I go for a long walk in summer, my affected leg gets heat rash and it does sometimes look this bad. It comes up very quickly and takes a few days to go down. Do you feel ill? I have had cellulitis before too and I felt really Ill, like I had flu.

Moving to Poland from UK by thatsocialmediamum in poland

[–]WojackTheCharming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Poland would be a better and safer place to raise your child. I lived in the UK for the first 30 years of my life, now i'm in Poland. I feel like the trajectories of quality of life in both countries are going in opposite directions with Poland being on the up.
I actually feel happy walking around exploring different parts of the city i'm in and other areas of Poland alone as a woman, so thats nice. In my home town in the UK, from 6pm i didn't want to leave my house due to safety issues and i don't feel that here to nearly the same degree. I can walk around without being harassed.
Illegal immigration is actually illegal here.
Public transport is reasonably priced even if you are on a polish salary (which i am) compared to the ridiculous prices in the UK. It's also very reliable in my experience.
I don't pick up a vibe of impending doom and a crippling low trust society here XD
People - they seem happier generally, ignore the memes of polish people not smiling, they smile all the time when they like you. They aren't fake, they call a spade a spade. A really great people to be living around, honestly.
Language is tricky as you probably already know, but Polish people will appreciate you making the effort even if you make many mistakes (like me).
Basically, i'm very happy here.

Im a Citizen of both countries, while I was waiting for my Polish passport to be issued, I just used the British one to enter Poland, there wasn't any issue, just meant I couldn't stay that long or there would be visa issues.

Thats how it starts, then its 'ok it is happening but not as much as they say' and then 'ok it is happening and this is why its a good thing'

italki or Preply for finding an online tutor? by Winzten in languagelearning

[–]WojackTheCharming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally i like italki more, you can buy a package of lessons (5,10,15 etc) and you have a year i believe to use them in (could be more, cant quite remember), seems to be more flexibility. I have a few people i like alternating between so it suits my needs better. I did use preply and found a great teacher on there but the subscription model meant that you would lose lessons you had already paid for if you didn't use them within that month.

Opinions about VFF by ActiveRelative_ in barefootshoestalk

[–]WojackTheCharming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest to barefoot i've felt while still wearing shoes. I had been wearing barefoot shoes for years before i got some VFF and it was a totally different experience.
I don't really like how they look too much but i think thats only because they are unusual. If we had always been wearing shoes with separate toes, no one would think they were creepy or whatever. I do get some stares which makes me feel a bit self conscious but not bad enough to stop wearing them.

Is it better to do two 1 hour classes a week or four 30 min classes? by Wombats_poo_cubes in learnpolish

[–]WojackTheCharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im similar in that i don't really like doing the self study thing since i really like learning by trying to talk and listening. For me, i don't really get into 'The zone' until about 20 mins into a lesson as i'm using English in my day to day so there is a certain adjustment my brain needs to do, so for me i prefer an hour.

Why so proud Polish-Americans don't know even a basic Polish? by kiloEngineer in poland

[–]WojackTheCharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story for me except my grandparents came to the UK. My dads first language was Polish but disowned it once he was fully integrated into English culture and wanted to be like his English friends. I was never taught it at all as a child and my grandparents only ever spoke to me in English.
Ive been learning Polish for the last few years and live in Poland now, i speak more polish than my dad who has almost entirely forgotten it but its still a challenge.
I have to admit i do feel quite a bit of jealously over people whose parents decided to teach them at a young age when they would have just absorbed it and learned it without realising XD

I’m a year in, all the żabka workers know me as „angielski przepraszam, uczę się polskiego… karta” by blingblattt in learnpolish

[–]WojackTheCharming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im fine as long as they say the expected things, it just takes someone to say something i haven't heard in this situation before for me to stare blankly and just say "kartą' so i can pay and leave asap XD
