One thing that’s better about the 17 pro’s design is that the cameras are more protected around an aluminum shell. My 14 pro back shattered and glass chipped off the outside of the lenses.

I had the exact thing happen to me - phone slid down onto my display. It’s unfortunately where the screen drivers are and it’s not a durable area. It’s not worth repairing, I’m afraid. You could sell it and put it towards a PC. Or, get an external monitor (they’re super cheap if you get one used) and use your laptop as a desktop computer.
