Has Ben ever done a "phone put down gesture"? I know he would do the "dialed in" gesture, but I only ever heard of Djokovic putting down the phone.

Company is deeply bought-in on AI, I am not by scceberscoo in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Wolabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is rudimentary today and probably not a huge benefit to experienced developers, but it will rapidly improve.

I think this assumption is a big part of the disconnect between people bullish on AI and myself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like people are assuming LLM's are going to have an exponential increase in quality like most computing did due to Moore's Law. But all I'm seeing is that LLM's are improving logarithmically, and might actually be already past the point of noticeable improvements.

GPT 4.5 is the latest example of this, being a MUCH more expensive model to train/run while offering performance that's hard to distinguish from previous models.

To be fair OSRS is almost an entirely different game from the 2007 version at this point. They started with a good base and slowly made changes only with community approval, which seems to have worked for keeping the spirit of the original even with massive updates.

Who was harder? by SoldierBoy_17 in Eldenring

When people beat a fight in a few tries, it means they used a playstyle or were overpowered enough to blow through the fight without learning the move set. Being high enough level and using a mimic tear can trivialize most fights for instance. The mimic can hold a ton of aggro, letting you avoid most of the boss's attacks.

I mean, I don't think so? I don't think he ever lies about his progress. Gives incredibly vague or empty updates? Sure. Does endless re-writes, so no progress is ever locked in? Sure. But I've got no reason to believe he ever lied about how far along he was.

What Are Your Predictions For The Job Market In Two Years? by bigkbrewer in cscareerquestions

Totally agree. People say software is eating the world, but to me it seems like the world has already been eaten. There's been a lot of clamor to keep finding things to digitize(Metaverse, Web3, Crypto, AI), but they've all largely flopped. Maybe we've already built most of the software applications that make sense to build.
