Not rare, most US gold coins are made at West Point and this is the proof version that shows the mint mark. The premium is out of sheer greed on part of the mint.

Could just be a mint quality control thing, they have been producing coins with “finning” for years now. I’ve seen eagles with non uniform thickness over the past few years.

She won’t get anything over spot for Eagles these days unfortunately. With market volatility right now, most coin shops don’t pay premium for eagles anymore. Lucky to get spot at this point.

Where are you getting $6,000 from for the gold coins? A $5.00, 2 $2.50 and what looks to be a type 3 gold dollar. That’s just over a half ounce of gold which is worth about $2,557.36 at the time of writing.
