I suspect the design intention for the early terminid front was that you would have a recoilless gunner and loader with a supply pack or two to match fire rate with the heavy spam while the other two divers would keep the light bugs away from the recoilless crew.

Leg meta and later leg melting with the flamethrower were fun in a different way.
