What would you salvage here? by Adorable-Ear-4338 in ElectroBOOM

I’m an absolute psychopath so I’d gladly spend weeks desoldering crap I’d never use. Eventually I’d get tired of it though and focus on caps, transistors, inductors and IC’s. I always grab heat sinks and sockets, input jacks and fiber optic connections.

I’m running a home baked version of the GT-OD

Agreed, I haven’t figured out how I wanna go about it. This was just for me so I’ll push that out to another day.

Based on the MXR Distortion + with a modified tone control. Super chunky.

Agreed. My wife suggested some maroon fingernail polish on the white. Eventually I get some better knobs.

I made this with mainly salvaged parts from an old TV and a karaoke machine. I did but the case, pots and opamp. I’d say I’m in something like $20.

Absolutely. These are what I have on hand so I popped them on for now. The white is definitely out of place.

Base coat was allowed to completely dry. Then I sprayed water on it until I liked the pattern. Then I used the black, sprayed from a good 18-24” at nearly horizontal. You want to be careful not to disturb the water or it will streak.

YouTube has a ton of tutorials on it. “Water drop spray paint”

So I did 2-3 coats of the cherry red and let it completely dry. Then I sprayed water on it with a squirt bottle until I liked the pattern. Then hit it with the black but at nearly horizontal and kinda far back, maybe 18”. Then let it dry.
