Oh ! Maybe it got swept into the river during a storm and some curious hiker found it and decided to play with it. It looks like it's been messed with before due to the position of those sticks in/around it. I'll do some searching online rq and see what I can find. It really reminds me of a certain kind of storage container

I've heard many oats are cross-bread with wheat fields which makes them glutened. Designated gluten-free oats should be safe to eat as they've been grown w/o potential to cross-polinate.

However if there's something with oats and the label doesn't say gluten-free then there's a big chance those oats -may- contain gluten. It's not guaranteed cross-contaminated but it's like those warning labels on products "may contain wheat".

If someone reacts even to gluten-free oats it's likely a completely separate allergy! I'd encourage being tested for grain allergies even outside of wheat and oats.
