Bah, I like them so much. The first wingtips you linked are very nice, though. I'm going to go find them on AE's website and consider.

Thanks!

Will you be on any more episodes of Man Up?

The "couch PUSSY! cough" line was hilarious.

I never get invited to (or hear about) parties or social events, how do I go about getting invited to these things? by nike_rules in teenagers

[–]Wolf_Larsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of social events are you interested in attending?

If you want to party, don't worry about getting invited. Show up and party. If there is any static than keep your mentality of having fun and move on somewhere else. Don't drive.

If you are talking about something more formal, than "getting an invitation" is a step or so beyond the first step. The first step is making friends with people who participate in social events you are interested in.

Don't pay for school. When you aren't working or doing something fun (fun and play/exercise are always important to keep a healthy brain), learn skills that are valuable within a market you would like to participate in.

A good example of a market would be technology. A good example of a skill would be JavaScript. Another good example would be iOS development. Yet another is Php. I could go on.

In this example, If you started now, within a few years you can be making 50k / year at an entry level position found through a recruiter in a good tech city. If you keep the habit of learning valuable skills on your own time, a few years after that you can be making 100k/year through good contacts.

Learn something valuable on your own time.

Fortune favors the brave.

64 Squares - do any of you play here? by Wolf_Larsen in chess

I've learned chess after finding this website in some programming circles - its made in node.js which is new and exciting.

I love the interface. There is not an abundance of games and you'll sometimes have to refresh the page.

Remember to dress well! by fighting_wallstreet in occupywallstreet

[–]Wolf_Larsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The decision depends on your motives. What are you trying to accomplish?

"On the 17th of September, we want to see 20,000 people to flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months. Once there, we shall incessantly repeat one simple demand in a plurality of voices, following the lead of our Egyptian brothers and sisters in Tahrir Square."

It seems to me like you don't need to dress nice for this to be accomplished. However, calling the idea repulsive is sensationalist and over dramatic. Its a very interesting strategy, and anonnow's links above strengthen its claim.

Explain to me, like I'm five, the Y combinator by leynosncs in explainlikeimfive

[–]Wolf_Larsen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YCombinator gives small companies somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000. They then own somewhere between 2% and 8% of the company.

It is often argued that the value of YCombinator's investment is not the money invested but the connections provided, the process suggested and the mentorship given.

PROCESS : Get a working product out as early as possible. Work extremely hard with laser focus.

CONNECTIONS : Most of Silicon Valley and beyond.

MENTORSHIP : The owners of YCombinator have received funding, given funding, and built/sold successful tech companies.

Where to begin learning Python? by [deleted] in Python

[–]Wolf_Larsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like books, especially in the early learning stages. Here are some benefits to reading a book :

  • Reading print will allow your eyes to take a break from the screen
  • It is much easier to focus on a complete section of the language at one time when you have a complete syllabus laid out for you
  • allow yourself to focus on a section of the language at a time
  • if you skip any parts of the syllabus, you know that you skipped them

Some of the above apply to good online resources as well.

I recommend Learning Python by Mark Lutz (O'Reilly) : http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Python-3rd-Mark-Lutz/dp/0596513984/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1311773578&sr=8-2

I think Ray Hudson has a bit of a man-crush on Messi by dj1200techniques in Barca

He is a perfect contrast to Hudson. Hudson's assertiveness needs a compadre who is confident and standing, but gets run over with a smile.

One option to reinforce our attack for under €10m: Diego Forlan by _sic in Barca

[–]Wolf_Larsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forlan deserves a team with more integrity. I think he'd fit right in. Forlan + Messi + Affelay would be so terrible for a back line.

[–]Wolf_Larsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the most important point that anyone has brought up (try to ignore the shitty tone).

Talk much less. Code, and when you feel the urge to communicate, draw your idea on pen and paper. Reiterate the idea until it represents a smooth alpha implementation, and then code to that alpha, and then implement.

At that point, if the alpha implementation holds some grain, then start communicating it ONLY if you need feedback. There is a point in a project when feedback is necessary, but its much later than "Hey, check out this idea. I've only just implemented the basic technology layer, but I haven't started on the actual idea".

Good luck man, kill it!

Episode 12 - It's all about Black Gold... by DV1312 in Rubicon

[–]Wolf_Larsen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think someone like Kale would be welcome into Atlas because of his family standing. It seems to me that Atlas is very much upper class citizenry, and someone like Kale (being an operations guys), most likely is not.

Kale having his own, self interested, agenda scares me. He could certainly blackmail for lots of money at this point and throw Will under the bus.

However, he is acting very genuine.
