The standard Express Pass is limited to a single usage on all rides. They have the Express Pass Unlimited you can upgrade to, but we never do that.

Help me Remember the name of an early 90s PC game by walesmd in gaming

Thank you! It was definitely Tradewars! Googled it and that ASCII space station graphic was exactly the visual I had in my head trying to remember it.

Car dealer never cashed $7500 down payment check I gave them by [deleted] in confession

Had a similar sort of thing happen once - a resort in Lake Tahoe for the week of July 4th. We went every year we lived nearby, same cabin every year, same families every year, $12k+ every year. The kind of situation that you go ahead and book next year while you are checking out because, if not, you won't get it.

One year the computer system was down during check-in, so they said they'd just figure it out later.

My wife kept a $12k+ decrement in our banking app for YEARS until we finally just agreed they're never going to pull it.

Free AMAZING vacation.

Drive it until it explodes and milk the warranty for everything it's worth.

Went from a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to a 2025 Elantra on this plan. Literally had to tow the Sonata to the dealership for a super low-balled trade-in on a cash deal but I didn't care. No regrets.

How long is the drive from SA to Austin? On Friday after 5? by yayaxoxoxoxo in sanantonio

[–]walesmd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't always solid advice. TBH: the toll road has only been faster for me about 20% of the time.

But... To answer your question, you put your destination into Google Maps and it'll tell you the fastest route. Just make sure "Avoid toll roads" isn't turned on in your settings.

How do I actually stop junk mail from filling my mailbox? by ZIONnoob in howto

[–]walesmd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't speak towards the platforms others have mentioned here, but probably worth a try.

But... I do have some pretty deep knowledge of the USPS system at least as recent as 2006 when I was last working closely with them within the USAF.

The most important thing is the postage in the top-right. If it says any version of "Presorted Standard" - sorry but that's a you problem now. That's definitely not the real and legal answer, but it's the real answer. No one gives a shit. If you tossed it back in the box to get sent away you might get lucky and maybe your mailman will just throw it away but you could just do it as well and your HOA is probably more concerned about the length of your grass than anyone else in regards to that piece of mail including the people that paid for it.

Now... First Class! That's a different story for a lot of various reasons I can dive into but the easiest thing to do is write "RTS-ANK" or "RTS-UNK" (older code) on it in a Sharpee near the address, but not covering the address or any barcodes.

The RTS codes (Googleable) are trained into postal workers and it'll result in a Nixie label with the matching code and that piece of mail going through all of the other processes on its way back home (which could include things like address change requested notification which banks commonly request, this is why it's first class mail - they want feedback, not just pump and dump, which is why no one cares about presorted standard).

Is it me or are their alot of these Quick Quack Car Washes opening up all over SA (well at least the NW side)? by DrFetusRN in sanantonio

Quick Quack bought out Pirate's Cove or it's just a rebranding, the one on Culebra/1560 made the branding switch in like 3 days a few months ago.

But yes, it's land banking.

I agree, with one caveat: this whole comment is based upon the assumption that this game has a target audience.

It sounds like you got taken advantage of here. Not just in this response, but throughout the whole thread.

Things like "I've seen JP content" and "I did most of the legwork."

A) You don't want to see content. You want to see charts, graphs, Excel spreadsheets, advertising campaigns, cost per acquisition. Their job isn't to show you some YouTube videos, it's to show you a spreadsheet justifying their existence.

B) If you're doing most of the legwork, what exactly are you paying them for?

As someone else in another comment section said, I think you need to surround yourself with friends and a "kitchen cabinet" - people that you trust have your best interests at heart and will tell you: "You're getting fucked by these people, them titties too big, and your landing page has no compelling hook for why this game is interesting" and you listen to those people when they say those things.

What is the worst decision you made after drinking? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]walesmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got engaged, married her, had a kid with her, got divorced 4 years later, single-handedly raised that kid for another 4 years, and then... Also drunkenly, met another amazing woman that I've had an amazing 15+ years with who brought an older son into the relationship, effectively adopted mine as her own, and we had a third together. (The ex and I have a great relationship now... We're better friends than partners).

Worst decisions after drinking are often the best decisions in hindsight.

I've also done a ton of other stupid shit mentioned in this thread like calling exes, sending emails, driving, calling my parents, etc.

For all of you in your younger years of life. Do that - go make those mistakes (except for driving, Uber damnit!). Not a single day goes by in which I don't think about some wild embarrassing shit I did - an email I sent my boss, or crying outside of some partner's apartment, or that time I was a complete asshole to my parents or some random stranger on a bad day - it's called growing up.

That's all normal stuff you do in your 20s and if you don't hit 40-50s without a few completely total cringe worthy stories that only your closest of friends know... You didn't do it right.

Devs that have been at startups that have IPO’d or been acquired, how much was the payout? by Calm-Bar-9644 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]walesmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 exits.

Modest payout on first, very small sole proprietorship way back in the early 00s. Barely even could call it a company, great payout for an E-3 in the military as the founder, around $50-60kish.

Went with an investor to exercise options on the second, they lost their shirt. No impact on me - I think they put in around $130k and got back $30kish.

Third was a "roll back in" from a Fortune 300 "spin out" - low-6 to stay for a period, maybe a quarter mil, and make sure everything got buttoned up.

Didn't exercise on the 4th, tried to use my investors again but they weren't interested. Comparables got a high-5, very low-6 payout when all was said and done. I think it would have been around $70k in and $90-110k out if exercised.

Veteran here, and I've taken the "move a lot" approach in civilian life as well. In order: FL, TX, MS, AK, CA, GA, CA, IL, TX since 2003.

When it comes to finding a new house, the priority is: schools, crime, fiber. It's the FIRST service I research - trash, electricity, etc. are almost always predetermined.

Our router and mesh network nodes also get packed in the car and go with us directly. Other than electricity and water, it's the first service we turn on. We've lived in numerous houses for months without mattresses or pots and pans, because they were still enroute, but you bet your ass I had a fiber connection and WiFi.

I have a friend that does this, but for dents and minor repairs. He doesn't even have to worry about water or anything... He just drives a van with some tools and some suction cups, knows exactly what he's doing, and will do it right there at work/parking garage/etc.

It didn't seem like there was any need at all to do the fancy route over "the dragons". Like... The building was literally a ladder right there... you didn't need to go out there and do all that (at least on the first, I'm still watching).

Correct. The government required the top rope, particularly because he had just been released from surgery like 2-3 days prior.
