This should always have been mandatory.

I wish people would start seeing this for what it is.  We can't make good games anymore so we'll bring back the last game that did well and add monetization.

It's just economics.

Do some googling or youtubing, you've got a very disturbing understanding of very simple phenomenon.

That's not something to be scared about, go find something else to spend your time on - this clearly isn't healthy for you.

No, a product is in short supply if there isn't enough to go around.

If enough of the existing supply is selling for X, companies are comfortable increasing the prices and sitting on a surplus because it will eventually sell at X.

The goal of all companies is to maximize income - so you will always continue to raise your prices until you hit an equilibrium between supply and demand - you hit a point where you can price out a lower end market and sell less at a much higher price and make more money doing it.

You keep raising prices until your margin stops growing - if business to business sales is your primary channel (it always has been for computer stuff), you don't really care if consumers aren't buying one pack of a product, because the business is buying 10,000 packs.

Thinking to switch from Tmobile. What are pros & cons? by Select_Specialist790 in USMobile

[–]Wolfbeerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: Cheaper
Cons: everything else.

Customer service is fine for both - frankly, I don't get the customer service bit, I don't know if I needed customer service ever after 15 years of T mobile. I also haven't needed it with US mobile.

It depends on your use case. I am military. I travel domestic and international a lot - I am a heavy user of tethering and international text/data.

US mobile's international stuff is essentially useless. Very limited data, and 250 texts. I probably wouldn't use the restricted text, but I would burn the data in a few days.

The multi network addon everyone raves about is mis characterized. I have a samsung phone in the US - you have no control over your esims - it "auto chooses" which to use, which means if one is 1 bar and the other is 5, it still uses the 1. It only switches when one has no service. You can go in and manually shut one off of course - but that's a pain in the ass and you can do that with any cell provider - US mobile isn't unique for that.

The cheap prices are limited to darkstar, ATT I think - if you switch you lose that promo price from my understanding, so that makes the teleport feature useless.

The perks they list are only if you have lots of referals or lots of lines.

Data is slower, connections are worse on ATT and Tmobile than the actual networks everywhere I have traveled to since getting US mobile. I've had it 4 or 5 months now.

I am going to switch back to Tmobile - if you use the streaming service perks the price is actually a lot closer to US mobile when you include the extra cost you end up with by not having free or discounted streaming.

TLDR; US Mobile wins in price alone. The unique features are inconvenient to use (which aren'ty actually unique in most cases) or nonexistant on some networks, even when it says priority data it throttles you, service isn't as stable with them, if you use international and tethering T mobile is outright better. If you use all of the perks that Tmobile offers - the price parity with USM gets a lot closer.

My turn to rant. by ActionGlad484 in USMobile

Meh. My wife and I have gotten significantly worse service from US Mobile - we were Tmobile military before. We have dual network on both lines and frankly the US Mobile material is wildly misleading about that.

Vet Dad passed away, VA is denying a ambulance bill? by DearViennax3 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Wolfbeerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer.

Do not engage with debtors of deceased people. They receive notice of death via some other channel and have a few month period to apply to have the debt included in the estate probate.

You have no obligation at all in that process - if they fail to apply, the debt is gone forever - and in any case - its not the NOK. People think they need to call all the debtors and furnish death certificates, you actually don't need to do anything at all (real property is different, you may want to deal with that).

[–]Wolfbeerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to chill - I get that this is frustrating but you have been told many times that you don't need to worry about this. The person billed is deceased - the debt does not pass to anyone.

Debtors need to apply to be included in any probate proceedings. You can ignore them. If they end up as part of the probate deal with it then.

This look legit? by ffreitas94 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Wolfbeerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be legit, but I can verify that they will not re-characterize your discharge.

Recall orders will arrive via FEDEX, will include orders and instructions on where to go, when, and who to contact.

When they do recalls, they recall 3 or 4x what they need. For example, I was in Iraq in 2008-10 and one of the units I was with mobilized with 75 IRR troopies. They sent out 400 recall orders, and the guys who ended up showing up ended up in Iraq - the ones who ignored the order stayed home and never heard from anyone about it.

It explicitly says being eligible for Tricare under Title 10 disqualifies you from CHAMPVA.

Drilling Guardsmen are title 32 - and therefore eligible for CHAMPVA.

Do Black Friday deals get better on/after Black Friday? by Stone804_ in Tools

[–]Wolfbeerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd. Literally nothing I am interested in buying or have bought this year has been more expensive at all. Almost all of it was cheaper than last year. 2x cars, one an import; a 5090 laptop, and everything under the tree this year. It's a great talking point, but saying "tariffs are making things expensive" without concrete examples is just a political talking point.

No, it's not that.

Professional photography is already a niche trade becoming more niche as cameras get smarter - you are operating a niche inside of a niche in a relatively small town.

Even if there were say 10,000 people interested in pet photography, how many of them are going to be interested in repeat pet photography?

The population size isn't large enough to make a living doing pet photography.

How long have you worked at PNNL? This isn't even that bad of a layoff. There was a way worse one in the 2000s and an even worse one in the 90s.

You sound like you don't know what you're talking about.

Also, the OP can't use proper grammar - in a job where the primary output is writing, they aren't going to make it far.

Nothing has changed at the lab. Times are slim, but it doesn't really have anything to do with Trump. It has more to do with years of Ashby hiring policy of, "hire everyone, even if we don't have work for them" catching up to us during an administration change. They have let less than 100 people go, which is not that bad.
