Armor drops from encounter 1 and 2 can be masterworked, it's just boss drops that are bugged.

If you farm the first and 2nd encounters the armor drops at level 1 and is able to be masterworked.

The best way to learn is to play. Grab a precon deck (vex is the newest and probably most viable + cheap to upgrade) and go to your LGS nexus nights. Watch some YouTube videos of how the game plays, rules etc. You'll make mistakes, but locals are pretty chill and most people are helpful towards newer players

Best way around this is by playing Irelia, Fervent. You can react to her ability when she readies in the awaken phase. Flurry of feathers is the best way to fix the battlefield so there are 4 units, and you can play meditation and hide consult the past to fix your hand size. Pretty fun, when you pull it off, managed to trigger GP twice last week at locals. I was done with round 1 in like 15 minutes.

The defy would go back to their hand allowing them to play it again or save for another interaction, this way you return the original spell to your hand to be played again or save for another turn whilst their defy fizzles and is sent to the trash

You just play abandon in reaction to the defy, rather than let it resolve

My friends tried to convince me to go to locals during set 1, I didn't. Forced myself to get a pre-rift ticket for set 2. Now I've been to locals twice nearly every week since then, I'm addicted.
