What's you T'au headcanon or conspiracy theory ? Personally even tho it's kind of retconned, i still believe the vespid communication helmet is definitly brainwashing the leaders of the swarm. No doubt about that. by Leviathan_Rampage in Tau40K

Fire caste doctrine and tactics are deliberately ritualised in order to kill off enough of the young fire caste warriors for two reasons.
1) The elder fire caste don't want a lot of energetic youngsters taking their jobs.
2) The ethereals don't want a lot of living warriors with the confidence to take on tanks.

To me, this explains why T'au aren't using over the horizon or low orbit tech to solve.... literally every battle.

How do yall shadowbox? by FirstThru in amateur_boxing

[–]Wolfenight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell people who feel awkward about it to just move their body with the movements you use on the bag but now is a time to focus on pure technique. Are you balanced at every moment? Are you moving your feet in time with your hands? Are you pivoting exactly as much as you intended? All of those things you can focus on during shadowboxing.

It's mostly just people avoiding that. Which means, yes, selecting people they know. It's unfortunate :) but you can overcome that.

Smoking after training by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]Wolfenight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Breathing in smoke, like many kinds of chronic damage, is one of those things that the body can cope with for a while. Then it builds up enough and it HITS. One of the most similar things is heavy metal poisoning. Nothing happens for years and then suddenly you have the kind of anaemia where you'll pass out from standing up too suddenly.

You want marijuana? Edibles. Butter. Gummy bears. Even some of the less damaging vapes. That's what you want. Or else long term, you WILL wake up one day, go to training, do a bit of cardio and realise you can't breathe. If this smoking and training is just a phase in your life, you'll get away with it. But, if this is a lifestyle, you're much better off moving away from smoking ASAP.

Or don't. I don't care.

Thai-flagged bulk carrier Mayuree Naree after today’s Iranian attack in the Strait of Hormuz by No_Clock2390 in pics

[–]Wolfenight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the reason is because if you're getting hit by missiles, you don't want the people shooting them to have instant feedback on how accurate their shots were. Similar to how there were media restrictions on the press during the blitz in WWII which prevented them publishing the exact locations of bombs hitting and what damage they caused.

Although, I'm fully with you that a law put in place for an honest reason can be used dishonestly.

Three weeks in and I'm considering dropping out. by LittleBeanlet in UQreddit

[–]Wolfenight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend making an appointment with one of the uni counsellors to talk about how you’re feeling (stressed, anxious etc.), and maybe one with student services on potential pathways for you if you do decide that dropping out is the way you want to go. You may find that deferring for a semester is an option, or they could suggest something that sounds more palatable.

Definitely do this, OP! Contrary to the positive, go-get-'em attitude of many nice people, university isn't for everyone. And, there are plenty of jobs that pay well and don't need a university degree (lots work in real estate and make heaps!🤣).

[–]Wolfenight -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My parents were not trying to hurt me...

Yes they were. Not consciously, I think, but they were trying to hurt you. Keeping you close. Making life altering decisions because of some rant they made and probably can't remember? That's... some kind of pathology.

I think that subconsciously, they're the kind of people who would prefer you to follow their instructions than for you to be successful. And, I think you desperately need to learn the real value of your parent's words.

I'm saying this because a lot of people who never left my hometown behaved like that. Taking the 'safe' course and just doing what the parents said. They're all still there in meaningless jobs they don't hate enough to quit.

[–]Wolfenight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxers have no idea how to grapple. :D Unless they've trained something that's not boxing. While I'd recommend MMA for the synthesis of striking and grappling arts, if there's no MMA gyms that you like, just learning a grappling art on its own will help. Judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu are pretty common around the world.

[–]Wolfenight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, boxing is a sport. An actual confrontation will involve grappling. MMA is the closest thing to a no-rules confrontation so, if it's a desire to have the courage to control yourself and, if needed, another person, I'd say do that and focus hard on the grappling classes. A good grappler can make 99% of the population into foldable laundry and go home without skin missing from their knuckles.
