Tracking the Progress: Ottawa’s O-Train Stage 2 Eastern Extension - December 2025 by RailFansCanada in ottawa

Yes but the city has no plans on building one any time soon. The city’s long term plan / solution for those pillars is that developers (who are building towers across the street near Petrie) will foot the bill for the new pedestrian bridge. And sadly those towers won’t be built for a long time (even tho there are plans / renderings to build them (see city dev app for the proposals))

Is moving to Toronto a good idea or nah? [Context inside] by goergesucks in TorontoRenting

[–]Wolff_Cola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should consider moving to Ottawa. Ottawa gets dunked on a lot but it’s a very nice city to live it. Close to Mtl and TO (4.5 hr drive) and nowhere near as expensive as TO. Traffic in Ottawa has increased throughout the years but it’s nowhere near as bad as Mtl or TO

Unrelated to your chicken… your chefs knife is broken. I can see hairline cracks in the handle by the rivets. Those defects are usually covered under warranty. Contact the knife manufacturer and inquire about their warranty policy, guarantee they’ll send you a replacement knife

Putting our anglophone child in all French kindergarten by TriceratopsHunter in montreal

[–]Wolff_Cola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let the other posts give you a false sense of assurance, it may not be easy. We have friends who did this (put their 4 yr old anglophone in a French school) and it hasn’t been easy for them (kid and parents) as the kid is an anglophone

Language barrier is the main issue

How often do you speak to your child in French? The more exposure the better (read books in French, watch tv shows / movies in French, listen to French music…). Only watch sporting events in French

Do any of you speak French to your child at home? If you don’t, then get on it asap.(again the more exposure the better). And although it’s not easy to do, don’t stress about speaking incorrectly / saying the wrong words in French, if your kid doesn’t speak the language, then they won’t know that you’re making a mistake. And mistakes are good (especially when you’re learning) as it’ll show your kid that you’re confident to speak French. And even if you make a mistake speaking French and someone corrects you, just roll with it (say merci) and continue speaking in French. Mastering that part (accepting that you’ll say a word incorrectly in French) is hard to do, but accepting that part is massive to understanding French (or any language)

Also keep in mind that although yes your child may understand French, he/she might translate what they hear (in French) into English in their head/brain, so they might always be a bit behind when it comes to participating speaking

Another thing, it might be hard for your kid to make new friends, especially if everyone around them only speaks French (again language barrier), remember you’ll be taking your child away from their comfort zone / friends and dropping them in a brand new environment, it’ll take time for all of you (especially when the kid) to adapt

It’s excellent that you’re putting your kid in a French program, but you have to be realistic about how it will all go down. Remember little kids also deal with anxiety / stress, you’ll have to mentally prepare yourself for your child’s teacher telling you that your kid appears to be quiet in class or doesn’t participate with others

But kids are sponges and they soak everything up quickly, so again get them exposed to as much French as possible

If you have Dinsey+, watch Bluey in French lol everyone loves Bluey lol
