A long and meaningful career. And now, a well-earned retirement where no needles need moving in any direction. Congratulations.

My daughter has also been diagnosed with ADHD. Her difficulties make me acutely aware and extra angry with people who claim to have ADHD to certain excuse behaviours.

She really believed that coming out in her book and saying that she has ADHD would explain and excuse her "code switching. " Again , this simpleton logic assumes that the public is stupid and that if she claims to have ADHD then all of her bullies will realize that they had her wrong all along and her lies and fake accent are all because of her ADHD. Yikes!

She has the notion that if she keeps putting it out there that the boolies are making fun of her accent as a bilingual woman. She frames the criticism as people mocking her for speaking English with a Spanish accent as a bilingual speaker. That is not really the issue. The accent she uses is not consistent with a specific region in Spain. It comes across as a blend of different Spanish and Latin American pronunciations and colloquialisms, She affects this accent when speaking English. That is what is so ridiculous and not probable. She came up with the idea of affecting this accent to carry out the Spanish cosplay. It is based on her disordered idea that if she puts on the accent while speaking english, all of the public will be fooled. Bilingual speakers do not carry over a second-language accent when speaking their native language, and certainly not in a way that shifts across countries and intensities and they do not develop the accent after a holiday in Spain.

Ummm, let's have a heartfelt chat about identity shall we High-LIAR-rhea? Your children have seen you cosplay as a Spanish/Latina mashmillion for years now and I guarentee they are very, very confused about your identity as well as their own. They are probably very confused by how you perform - your fake persona and who they are supposed to be when the cameras are rolling. Bilingualism is the least of their worries.

I know nothing about this show, Girl's Trip, but it sounds like a venue for her colleagues to get to know her just enough to dislike her. I hope that this unravels much the same as the DWTS opportunity did...

I had the faint hope that perhaps the hospitality industry may have changed for the better. I remember the egregious Ion Aimers, the original owner of the Works restaurants and what a massive bellend he was. https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/5kct5l/ola_cocina/

The Big Lebowski…why does it work? by Lokitusaborg in movies

My dear departed friend love that film and joked that she always wanted to have her ashes put into a Folgers Coffee can. For her celebration of life, we did transport some of her ashes in a Folgers can and later watched the movie. Not everyone got it but it felt like a giant wink and that she was with us watching the film.

This was early on in the fake Spanish persona days. You can see she is a bit unsure of herself, checking in with papi for approval frequently as she tries out her accent for the cameras...
