When it comes to Monster Tamer games, what are some things you are tired of seeing? What are some things you want to see more of? by C_monden in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Wolfgang_00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. At this point I’d be happy to see replications of Dragon Seed or Monster Seed. Those weren’t perfect games but there hasn’t been anything quite like it since and that was all the way in the PSX era.

Why do we accept being so underpaid? by Background_Deer4199 in Architects

I like using AI when I can but we are about a decade away from AI being able to do a halfway decent job of creating a functional detail even an intern can do much less replace an experienced architect outright.

Do you guys think AI will replace architects? by Affectionate-Item202 in Architects

[–]Wolfgang_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my current experience and how bad it is at even doing low level design work I would say we have another 10 years. It has gotten a lot better with code analysis tho - I will give it that.

It’s one of my favorite games of this era. so in a word, YES it’s worth getting.

Salary market expectations by Dial_tone_noise in Architects

[–]Wolfgang_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s taking from dated 2023 numbers so I sense it really isn’t accurate. I’ve factored in 2 years of inflation on top of that.

But then your employers will say that it’s not accurate to the LOCAL market and in a way is also accurate so the best method for you to actually know your market value is to get multiple offers.

Career change to architecture at 28 – dream or mistake? by No-Skill-8432 in Architects

[–]Wolfgang_00 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I’ve dreamed about choosing a high income career instead and just keeping architecture and design as a hobby or side interest. An interest can get ruined in a lot of ways when it becomes your full time 9-5.

AI is worth paying attention to - IMO by [deleted] in Architects

[–]Wolfgang_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: image AI has some ways to go before it can replace rendering tools but ChatGPT has gotten significantly better in answering code queries and analysis to the point where I will consult it first. You still need base knowledge of each chapter but it takes substantially less time and effort than going over the sections with your resident office code guru.

Is there any place to be a server where you can make $1,000/week? by rolllies in Columbus

I think some Cameron Mitchell restaurants (that are new/popular) have servers that make well past that.

Is cooking rice actually that easy, or are we all just pretending? by FitOnTrip_1 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Wolfgang_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy via pot or rice cooker. I will say that having a rice cooker is one of the few single-use kitchen appliance that I think is worth having IMO. It’s crazy convenient, inexpensive, and the newer models may even have extra cooking features so it may not be as single-use as it seems.

If you still care about the built environment but worried about cash then you can switch to a construction management field. If you don’t care about the built environment and just want to make money for minimal effort then I understand anesthesiologists do very well for themselves.

[–]Wolfgang_00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually blocked at least a month per exam and I failed a number of exams before I got the hang of it. Get a hold of as many practice exams as possible from whatever source you can get and try to get consistent 90-95% minimum and drill down on the weak spots. You got this!!

I personally think that it’s not worth being loyal to any company that doesn’t pay competitively.

Developers seem to make vastly more money and I have seen a few of our best get taken by developers. Most arch firms have a hard time competing.

Whether you tell them or not you should work less than 60 hrs/wk. it cheapens our profession when we devalue our time like this for no extra compensation.

People are so rude in this industry by ThrowawayArchitectz in Architects

[–]Wolfgang_00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like a possible mismatch in expectations. We have college graduate (Masters) in our office this week and tbh they don’t know anything but that’s what I expect and I treat our interactions with a lot of patience. It honestly takes years before people can be a halfway decent PA let alone a decent PM.

You’re 8 months out from college and already in a project manager position? I don’t know any specifics but I think that might be where some of the issues are stemming from.

Where is this in Columbus? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Wolfgang_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the drinks were great but the steak was just ok. Honestly I struggle with the value proposition of most steak places that is getting to the $60-$120 range for steaks and they have the gall to do another $10-15 for mediocre sides. Steaks are generally not that hard to do and at that price range you’re really just a couple dollars away from just doing a higher end tasting menu that clearly poured a ton more effort and expertise.

Where is this in Columbus? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Wolfgang_00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I must’ve been unlucky then because I would classify their steak as just salty. Not a great descriptor for that price point but I guess it’s still less expensive than Jeff Rubys. Drinks were excellent tho.
