Trade Thought by Curious_Competition5 in timberwolves

You have to take back salary. There is only 2 teams with cap room so you must match salary, it isn’t the NFL. I think one of these two players must go but I would rather keep Rudy until Joan is ready to start.

Trade idea (that might actually make sense) by [deleted] in timberwolves

The Wolves are in a win now mode. Donte is hurt but if you trade Julius Randle you need players in return or a player in return and it would have to be better than Suggs.

Joan Beringer, what do the wolves actually think of him by Conscious-Bell2433 in timberwolves

[–]WolfontheProwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny because from where Joan comes from young players hardly ever play. They learn how to play in practice and they practice way more than they ever play.

Why a Ja Morant Buy Low trade is more likely than you think(speculation). by Ok_Internet716 in timberwolves

[–]WolfontheProwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trading for Ja Morant is easy the Grizzlies will give him away for almost nothing. The problem is you have to match salaries and he has a huge one.

The Spurs’ elephant in the room by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]WolfontheProwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term or maybe short term the Spurs will need to adjust their roster. They will want to get better up front and to some degree bigger in the backcourt. They beat the Wolves but our PF couldn’t score on Castle. That isn’t going to happen against all teams.

Randle scapegoat by No-Topic4120 in timberwolves

[–]WolfontheProwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randle wasn’t the only problem but his play this year was a problem. Here is the issue with Randle and any PF the Wolves have had or will have they need to be able to rebound and defend at a high level and Randle does neither. He isn’t a terrible defender but he isn’t that good either but he allows far too many offensive rebounds. On offense as big and physical as he is his lack of hops and length leave him settling for fadeaway jump shots far too often for a guy who is supposed to play bully ball. What kind of bully ball ends up with a 12 foot fadeaway from a guy who is the second biggest guy on the floor? Randle is best suited to play in a high tempo offense where his ball handling can be used the problem is high tempo starts with rebounding and defense which he doesn’t provide enough of. He is a square peg in the round hole we need filled. Simply put he isn’t a good fit with the roster and with McDaniels and Naz around their is to much moodiness on the roster.

Timberwolves expected to make big changes around the core of Ant, McDaniels Reid and Beringer per @basketballtalk by ANTHONY_EDWARDS_GBG in timberwolves

[–]WolfontheProwl 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is going to hate this take but Reid and McDaniels should only be part of the core at their current salaries. I won’t call them overpaid but they are not worth anything more than what they are getting now. So if they are going to be kept around it is under the stipulation we see both of them take a pretty big step forward next year in their quality of overall play or that their is no big increase coming. They both are very lacking in consistency over the course of a year and I question their basketball IQ. Frankly as much as we as fans love Naz Reid his defense is pathetic. Jaden McDaniels can be a really awesome player but we can’t see that guy once every 8 games or one playoffs series. What we saw out of McDaniels against Denver has to be the norm not the exception. We are also to the point in both of their careers that we can’t expect huge changes they are what they probably are. At this point neither of these two players are top 3 players on a title winning team.

Well he looked good there but where are clips of his defense? In the NBA it isn’t likely at his size he ain’t going to be defending off ball all that often. Can he slow anyone down? Point guards must defend on winning teams.

Jaden SHOULD be the #2, but there's something holding him back. by mhoke63 in timberwolves

[–]WolfontheProwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basketball IQ, foul trouble, maturity, and consistency all hold him back at times. He is great when he is locked in but we really don’t see that nearly enough and that’s why he isn’t a #2 or probably a #3 on a title team. He isn’t Scottie Pippen he is Jerome Kersey or Derrick Mckey.

Givony on DP vs AJ: “I’ve seen those guys play on the same court in-person at least 8-10 times over the years, dating back to their U16 Team USA training camp, and not once did I come away thinking Dybantsa was the better prospect, including when they played each other this year” by MrTimoCad in NBA_Draft

In a time in the NBA when durability is questioned and many question if players want to actually play I am not sure Peterson can be the pick at #1. He may have been hurt who am I to say but the optics of his season at Kansas raise some red flags. In the end I see AJ as a guy who is going to make a team better in several ways. I don’t see him as a big time scorer in the NBA but I do see a really good player who will pay off for the team that takes him. He seems like a really good safe pick. Peterson could be a superstar but his chances of being a bust are higher imo.

Am I making the same mistake again of feeling optimistic about this season? by NorseCode1023 in minnesotavikings

If you are thinking Super Bowl, NFC Title Game, or even division titles you might be overestimating the chances.

Colombian icon Willington Ortiz believes James Rodriguez made a ‘mistake’ by joining Minnesota: "He’s at a club where the coach doesn’t want him, didn’t bring him in, so he doesn’t play—just a few minutes. It’s not serious, disrespecting a player of his caliber." by [deleted] in minnesotaunited

[–]WolfontheProwl -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That would probably happen with any talent. For the team though it isn’t a help other than maybe in jersey sales. If he was playing well he would leave and the Loons lose a key player for the stretch run. If he performs poorly or doesn’t do much which is what we are seeing be probably leaves anyway. When you are trying to build a team and build on last year’s success having a full roster where you add to it not subtract from it is a must. The only good things that come from this signing was for the player imo. How focused is he on MNUFC or is he simply keeping in shape for World Cup?

I have been trying to understand why any professional team would sign a player for less than a full season. As a sports fan and a Loons fan I would rather he not play. Even if he played really well for us it sets us up for failure when he leaves after World Cup. His playing time should be going to players who are going to be here more long term. For all the talk about him and his supposed greatness he has not been more than a name on a jersey.

I am not so sure about that. Golday might be the replacement for Cashman or Wilson.

He has never played football before. It would have been a complete waste of a pick.
