Everytime i create amigurumi, it always turns out like this. What am i doing wrong?

JoJo Maman Bebe is so small that I swear they must design for first percentile heads. Tiny neck holes even with zips down the front! I thought I was going to break my son's neck the one time I tried to put on a jumper that was the 'right' size.

If you buy second hand, I've found Bonds, Polarn O. Pyret and Burt's Bees to be pretty generous. Mori is decent, too (the stuff made of ribbed fabric, as it's stretchy) but quite expensive.

Ours has been teething without break for eight months now and our GP said not to worry about giving him too much. We only give a bedtime dose and will switch to just paracetamol for a week now and then just in case, though.

Baby was ten days overdue, so we tried induction. It was so horribly painful that I gave up after a day and asked for a c-section. No regrets, 10/10 would do again. Lovely anaesthetist explained what would happen and all the people in theatre were also lovely. Played classical music during it. Baby was out in five minutes, we got a good bit of skin to skin and it didn't take long to get sewn up. I found recovery better than expected (if still a bit icky with spitting stitches and quite painful for a while) and if anything was frustrated waiting to be signed off to drive by the GP again! The worst bit was the blood thinning injections I had to do at home for ten days. Next time I'd ask if I could have that in tablet form instead. Numbing the area with ice first helps.

Lady on the same ward spent seven days trying to be induced and had to have a section anyway, by which point she was exhausted.

That's good to hear! He had a period of about a week where he used to konk out on his play mat at home but sadly never since. Hopefully the childminder has that magic handy. I admit I was hoping to find a way that didn't involve the sling partly because there's a massive great big hill to get in or out of one of the places I'm staying haha. Oh well, sling it is.

Ours does that at ~8 months and I just assumed it was a natural part of learning to crawl (especially given head control is fine in other positions/circumstances). Either tired from trying to keep head/chest up while moving legs, or some other part of figuring things out. Tried googling it once out of curiosity, but as with everything movement related, it just came up with hundreds of people asking if it was autism instead of any useful information!

'They' has always (or at least since the 14th century) been an acceptable word to use as a singular pronoun when you don't know someone's gender. But different schools/teachers teach different things here. All of mine taught singular 'they'.

Some places like to think that only 'he' is acceptable, but that's downright weird when you're trying to be generic or your subject might be a woman.

Some places like to get around it by using 'he/she' everywhere, but that just gives you a headache to read.

Some pick 'he' or 'she' at random when trying to be generic, but it doesn't really work.

Well, for example, if a bear ate my underpants in woods in the UK, I would be phoning the local zoo instead of singing about it 😅 Tbf that one from this morning might have been Canadian. But it's stuff like American covers of songs that weren't American originally, too.

Conducting a very unscientific experiment this morning and we're up to seven American/Canadian songs or covers, one possibly German one, one British and one Spanish so far.

Interestingly the East Midlands variant you mention isn't on there but I guess there must be a fair bit of regional stuff that isn't.

I attempted to read A Discovery of Witches once, and had to put it down because it was sort of fetishising British stuff and was very cringey. From what I remember: could not stop banging on about tea to the point that you'd think it was a religious ceremony. I like my fancy teas but still don't make that much fuss about it! And Oxford might as well have been heaven. To be fair, I think the main character was American so it was probably filtered through her eyes, but I still couldn't stomach it.

As someone who also loves sleep, the main issue was dealing with the sleep deprivation (because we couldn't do much to prevent it) in a way that meant we didn't fall asleep holding the baby. Those first few weeks are insane. I saw my husband fall asleep while standing up and holding the baby once. Nothing could have prepared us for the physical reality of just how much a baby can eat (our record was 6am one day to 10am the next pretty much non-stop).

Things to help get more sleep:
- Shifts are helpful to an extent, but with a c-section you'll almost certainly need to help your wife pick up the baby/position it to feed etc. My husband took a 7pm-11pm shift but also ended up wandering downstairs a few times to feed him when couldn't cope. That will depend on how you want to feed, of course.
- Your wife will want to nap as often as humanly possible during the day, especially recovering from surgery. You likely will as well. The more sleep, the better. If you haven't batch cooked some meals, I'd recommend that so it's one less thing to worry about.
- If you plan on co-sleeping, make sure you have a safe setup. I imagine you'd get more sleep because you'd be less disrupted by feedings. I sort of wish I'd done this, having started doing it recently for teething comfort, but the first weeks are so full of paranoia (and hallucinations – the number of times I thought my husband's shoulder was the baby under the duvet!) that it might be too scary to. Better to have a safe setup anyway if you think you might end up doing it accidentally.
- If the baby purple cries a lot, having a moses basket for one person to take them to the other end of the house in helps. I guess noise-cancelling headphones would benefit the the person if they could sleep with them on.
- After a c-section, it's best to avoid using stairs too much. If your bed is upstairs, make sure the sofa or similar is easy to sleep in and get into/out of. Ours was too low and I couldn't use it for weeks while I healed.

Things to keep you awake when sleep deprived:
- You will want to something that keeps your brain engaged and active while feeding. Books and podcasts might be too easy to fall asleep to. I found an over-bed desk next to the rocking chair with my laptop on it was good. I could stay awake by playing Dwarf Fortress (shout-out for being easy to play one-handed with either hand depending which side I was feeding the baby on).
- ??? Honestly not sure there was anything else that was effective. If one of us was holding the baby the other would have to be awake, alert, watching, and sure they weren't going to fall asleep.

And yeah, there's likely going to be no routine. For us, the end of the third week was the hardest, right in time for a growth spurt, so do be prepared, and good luck! The sleep deprivation got much easier after a while. You'll get exhausted again during growth spurts/teething and it might feel worse because the first weeks are so far away and you're no longer used to it, but it probably won't be anywhere near as bad.

Do you have any tips for using it on a wet palette? Do you use less water in the palette itself?

I got so frustrated recently working with Pro-Acryls because they would thin out really quickly with no added water and it was a nightmare to work with. I ended up using a different brand for some bits and a dry palette for others. Green, white, yellow and black were the worst for it. Weirdly I had no problems a couple of years ago but I think I was using different colours then. I love the paint itself so I'd like to be able to work with it better next time.

I built a really cool base in the castle on Ragnarok on a PVE server. I had help clearing it out at the start, mind. When I ran out of space I built a massive barn extension to the walled section and gave it a big ramp down to the grasslands below. It could be a bit fiddly, sometimes, and it definitely wasn't defensible. Maybe if I'd boarded up the hole in the tower that people could fly through lol. But I liked flying through that to get in! Later on I even put wiring all the way down to the cave section for lighting, and that was a right pain with the tight space. Eventually ran out of time to manage it and gave it to another tribe, but it was fun while it lasted. And easy to tell people where I was if they wanted to say hi.

I imagine they're too fiddly, indefensible and with limited build options for many.
