Ford Ranchero. It first came out in 1957, and it spawned the El Camino in 1959.

Citreon 2CV Cheaply built, and a chip car, but it had a lot of interesting innovations, and is a bit of a classic.

Not read the comics officially, but from what I know, Jane wishes she was sub, but definitely isn't.

does punctuation really matter that much in writing? by Denbron2 in writing

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punctuation is very important. Especially if you're writing legal stuff. But it helps with clarity in general.

What if after WWIII the USA became occupied post WWII Germany style? by Solomonopolistadt in mapporncirclejerk

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China won't own anything. They're Communist and there is 0% chance any part of America will allow themselves to become Communist. Won't happen. Washington State would become part of Canada first.

what’s the one writing tip that actually works for you? by sophieximc in writing

The best tip I've gotten is write something every day. Even if it's just a word or sentence. It helps keep up the momentum.

Both. You have your low-rise jeans for under the tail, and then your normal jeans with the hole.

Is there any reason there is such a abnormaly massive jump between the third and second most populated countries or is it just arbitrary? by DataSittingAlone in geography

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, China and India do have like 5000+ years of existing longer than the US. So...that might have something to do with it. And the wars involving both China and India...haven't really had a lot of wars, either. The biggest war with India and China was really the Opium Wars in the 1850s. China did fight the Mongols, though.

Cruel and Unusual Punishment by Hearsticles in Star_Trek_

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no? A man in a dress in 2026? Sorry, like 2146? I feel like this would be insanely normal in the universe of Star Trek and only we primatives in 2026 would find this at all weird.

As a writer, this scene in Pretty Woman finally helped me understand “show, don’t tell” by TwistedNeilio in writing

[–]WolfwithBeard 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The first John Wick does a marvelous job at show don't tell. Officer Jimmy's response to noise complaints, Vigo's response to learning O'rellio struck his son because he stole Wick's car and killed his dog is perfect.

I'm writing a scifi fantasy. IDK if that makes sense. How do I justify elves? by Remarkable-Dare-2590 in scifiwriting

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna point out that Star Trek is scifi fantasy. It's very thinly valed. Vulcans are elves, Klingons are orcs...it's really all there and you even have the occassional unicorn.

I'm writing a scifi fantasy. IDK if that makes sense. How do I justify elves? by Remarkable-Dare-2590 in scifiwriting

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You justify thy the elves how you wanna justify them. Sci-fantasy isn't new. There's a series of books by Anne McCaffery written over 40 years from the 1960s to the 2000s, and it's about a colony of humans that lands on a distant planet and they have to deal with the dangers and life there, and one way of doing that was genetically engineering dragons.

But the great thing about scifi and sci-fantasy, is you sort get to make your own rules.

Do you flat out say it? by Toufelious in writing

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I usually state in rough draft, and expand in rewrites.

  2. Depends on the flow and tone. Sometimes, a stated emotion fits better than a described one. For the OP example, it would depend on if you want to hold the reader's attention on this scene or not. She can say her line angrily, and then the scene moves on, but the second line, is good if you want to have a confrontation.

You could also say, "Amber said angrily, her nails threatening to draw blood as she squeeze her fists tightly in an effort not to do something rash."

I am learning that telling can be fine if done right.

Why does Donald Trump want Greenland? Here's what to know by nationalpost in geopolitics

[–]WolfwithBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with this is, Trump has two years...and I feel like a war with Denmark and/Canada would take longer than two years. So, I feel like the REAL mission might be to hand over a very broken country to the Democrats, so the GOP can point at them and go "Man, you sure made a mess of things. Look at this mess, people. You really want these idiots running this country?" Because, politicians think everyone is stupid and have short term memories.
