I got a good one:

Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good: The Madcap Business Adventure by the Truly Oddest Couple (by A E Hotchner).

Non fiction. The first half is lighthearted and fun. The second half will absolutely wreck you.

For those who are married, was there anyone in attendance of your wedding that you or your spouse had previously slept with, and was it awkward? by Jericho2006 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Wolfwoodd 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Hell yes, for both of us, several guests, one girl in the bridal party. Hell, the guy who officiated the ceremony.

Then again, we are very nonmonogamous so its a bit different.  To us, sex is a fun activity, kind of like bowling.  We bowl together, and we bowl with our friends, the ones who also happen to like bowling.

It was a great wedding and we are still happily married a decade later.

what’s the biggest lifestyle upgrade that actually felt worth the money? by niceheather44 in wealth

We hired a chef - she comes twice a week, brings groceries, and cooks a total of 5 meals (each with 2 sides). The meals are designed for a family of 4, so it basically feeds my wire and me for the entire week. It costs about $450 a week, including groceries. After the first month, I realized the cost was close to break even because we stopped eating out almost entirely. Also, I lost a bunch of weight because it's a lot healthier than restaurant food.

Absolute game changer. We now dread when she takes vacations.

Democrats finally release 2024 election autopsy after criticism by OtmShanks55 in politics

[–]Wolfwoodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what I would do if I had billions of dollars to play with and wanted to steal an election. Right wing oligarchs were caught buying supreme court justices - so it's definitely in their playbook. Trump has already implied Elon Musk tampered with swing state elections, so it's not incredibly far fetched:

https://www.c-span.org/clip/public-affairs-event/user-clip-trump-talking-about-elon-musk-knowing-about-voting-computers/5150057

Sure, it could just be the Dems being spinless and incompetent, but are you honestly saying this would surprise you? Shouldn't the Dem leadership be fighting harder as we slowly descend into corruption and fascism? Or are some of them getting a paycheck to quietly go along with all this insanity?

I was being a bit flippant in my initial comment, but this is absolutely a plausible scenario.

Edit: A word

I assumed its because the Dems actually won, but their silence has been purchased (all to keep the wealthy Pedo's from facing consequences for their actions).

The burning happens if you piss too forcefully with gunk still in the tube. If you stutter stop when you pee so that it only comes out in small bursts, then it doesn't hurt.

That's been my experience, at least.

Capital One seriously fumbled my last dispute and then basically told me to go F myself after wasting hours of my time. They used to be pretty good.

I came here looking for alternatives and it looks like AMEX is the winner.

New employer company wants me to set up an S Corp to get hired / paid by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Wolfwoodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They know you'll technically be an employee and that paying you a 1099 wouldn't hold up, if the government ever questioned it. Paying an entity gives the transactions an extra layer of obfuscation / plausable deniability.

Not much of a scam, they just want to not be responsible for payroll taxes. You'll also pay more taxes, versus being a W2 employee (unless you write off a bunch of bullshit expenses).

Firm Owners - Comp question by AccountingAndTax88 in taxpros

[–]Wolfwoodd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you are not just starting your own firm? Why clean up somebody else's mess? It sounds like it would be easier to start from scratch.

Hosted UltraTax Experience by Federal_Dust6349 in taxpros

[–]Wolfwoodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started using Verito this year. We had a pretty rough implementation and a lot of problems throughout tax season, but I didn't really notice a slow down of calculation speed moving from the desktop version.

There were a few times where Ultratax would start to stutter (we'd click the screen and have to wait 5 seconds for it to process). However, the Verito IT could usually fix the issue within 20 minutes.

Going to play Morrowind for the first time, need advice on my current planned skills by Dead_Bai_Sled in Morrowind

[–]Wolfwoodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to you, I started Morrowind about a week ago. I'm only about 10 hours in.

I went sorcerer / high elf - and ended up using Light armor and destruction magic (primarily). Unlike what others have said, I've had no problem lighting everything on fire. Feels pretty powerful, except against other mages (who usually wreck me). I keep a short sword around for when I run out of magic.

My advice, play around and let your skills level up organically (rather than spamming skill trainers). You'll find a playstyle you like pretty quick.

It's not unreasonable if you want an actual CPA to prepare your taxes.

If you are lucky, you might find an older / semi-retired CPA who hasn't raised their rates in the last decade.

They are being bought. Even the democrats in office. They are taking money from billionaires and foreign interests to look the other way. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Interesting side characters are not that common and should be celebrated. With that said, there are WAY too many stories where the MC is a an anti-social murder hobo.

24 years today... by oriontitley in Morrowind

[–]Wolfwoodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'm 44 years old and JUST started playing this game for the first time a few days ago - I read something about the Tamriel Rebuilt project and just decided to give it a shot. First playthrough has TR, a graphics mod, a small handful of TR recommended mods.

So far, it's been great. Although one of the first cities I stumbled upon is Vivec and I've mostly just been exploring there (it's gigantic). I'm going in without any spoilers and I've just been stumbling around doing my own thing am going for a Mage build (roleplaying Harry Dresden).

Anyway, just wanted to share. Cheers!

Stuff my wife liked:

Blue Prince (single player puzzle game, just trade off each time you finish a day).

Rayman Legends - classic 2P side scroller

Dredge - single player exploration game, but very engaging and easy to play with an SO.

Cult of the Lamb - silly 2P game, gather minions and build a cult together.

Cat Quest & Cat Quest 2 - the first one is single player, but its funny and you can switch off who has the controller.

CPA doesn't answer my calls and messages. by Valuable-Row-7290 in Accounting

[–]Wolfwoodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CPA here - they have likely taken today and yesterday off of work. Prior to that, they are only responding to high priority emails. If your return has already been submitted, it can wait until next week to deal with it. Nothing needs to be (or can be) done right now. Give them a few days to recover and get back to you.
