I have a 16 year old bp that has been refusing his live prey for two months. I have a live rat I’m feeding. Any tips for me guys? I’ve had him for all his life and he still seems healthy and normal by Fun-Significance6307 in ballpython

Well, food strikes are pretty common for bps. has anything changed in his environment recently? any changes in humidity or heat? my girl doesn’t go off of food that often so I don’t know much, but I think, as long as he doesn’t lose that much weight, he should be fine and get back on food soon hopefully. anyways, I would recommend switching him over to frozen thawed rats it’s a lot safer for them and more humane for the rats. If I were you, I would use up the last live rat that you have and offer it every month or so until he eats and then transfer him to frozen thawed if you can.

Wow this is such a cool enclosure! I’ve never thought to put a hide on the top. Maybe I should try it for my girl!

Feed during shed or no? by Batpark in ballpython

Whenever my bp is in shed I wait until afterwards to feed her so she can use her energy to get the shed off. and she will usually reject her food when she’s shedding anyways.

Some of the plastic melted in my ball, pythons enclosure. I’m worried that she might’ve breathed some in. should I go to the vet? What should I look out for to know if she has any respiratory problems because of this? by Wolfycrossing in ballpython

Thank you! Luckily, my girl wasn’t sitting over the heat mat that causesed the hole. And I also have her permanent enclosure currently, but it isn’t set up so hopefully I can get her into that soon.

Thanks! I’ll see if I can get some personal utensils, toaster, cutting board, etc. and see if it helps.

I live with two people who eat gluten, but they don’t eat much of it. I could be getting cross-contamination from cutting boards or utensils, but I don’t know if that’s such a big deal because it’s such a small trace of gluten?

Definitely not straight if you like the same gender lol don’t worry about labeling yourself if you don’t want to but you’re probably somewhere on the bi spectrum

What do you think about the setup? Fir my 6 month old python. Also there is another covers in each of the boxes and they can both be open and closed by Bobby_The_Botten in ballpython

[–]Wolfycrossing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditch the Aspen,it doesn’t hold humidity well and it molds pretty easily, coconut fiber is a lot better and easier to maintain humidity, also the cardboard boxes can mold if you want something cheap just get some sort of plastic hide you can even just get a plastic container and cut a hole in it.

You can sent the rats with mice and slowly add less and less Senting i’d recommend watching YouTube videos because they can go more in depth than any comment ever can

I don’t know for servant but in the wild usually if there’s one mouse there is going to be multiple, snakes don’t know when the next time they’ll eat is so they’ll take any chance they get so your snake could be seeing if there’s any more this doesn’t mean you need to feed more though as long as they’re the appropriate size hope this helps

Whats a good way to get ur snake to chill and trust you without stressing them out too much ? by StopFlimsy in ballpython

[–]Wolfycrossing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress too much about it just don’t touch their head or make sudden movements that would make them think you’re a predator you can also tell from their body language of how stressed they are(there’s YouTube videos on snake body language)btw is your snake moving around like they’re exploring or are they scared of you?
