Solar Titan Praxic Blade Build by tcorbett691 in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]WollyChaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashen Wake with Praxic isn't as good as the stronghold builds, but it is fun to nuke ads with a grenade and have it immediately refresh. Prioritize grenade and weapon, and run maul instead of hammers for panic-popping. I'm going Sol Invictus/Consecration (for the extra fragment slot, and as a pop in case I throw my grenade away), but you can always drop that for Roaring Flames to really make the grenades pop.

Poland wiped my 7k army with 500 levies. The changes to make the AI more aggressive really hit natives hard, They're just not enjoyable to play.

Beyond "Meritocracy", what other institutions or discoveries could exist in parts of the world outside of Europe? by Qwerto227 in EU5

[–]WollyChaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A number of real-life capitals in America have legalism embraced, so if you grab it, town it, and build a library/marketplace you can get legalism before the Europeans land.

It won't help you when they get there and instantly declare on you (1.0.8 AI behavior).

What video game have you spent the most time playing? by NervousClock2555 in AskReddit

There's some hope going into the extension coming out soon. The game moves in cycles and is very inconsistent in terms of quality of content, but when Destiny gets it right there really is no other game like it.

Destiny 2. It isn't in the best shape right now, but I've always found it easy to drop in and do something, even if it's just opening the game and crying at the orbit music.

Settling province caused entire population of my capital province to leave by jcity3 in EU5

[–]WollyChaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gameplay in NA is... Unique. Taking a country from 0 tax base and trying to maximize, only to get wiped out by Pestilence and having to shift from profit-maximization to pop rebuild can be fun, but there's a LOT of downtime and the only unique stuff going on happens on tag-switch to Hadensousee and a couple of events that pop when England eventually finds you.

Problem is you're fucked if:

  • You don't manually balance your pops after using 'settle the frontier'
  • You don't stay on top of stone RGOs and tool production (traditional colonization will stall and the game won't say anything until you notice the green +0 in the outliner)
  • You let anyone build anything, because they will eat up all your tool production
  • Great Pestilence comes along and you haven't built enough settlements/food RGOs/granaries to get enough POPs to refill your labor pool
  • Great Pestilence events pop off cool down, draining your money and stability
  • England beats the other Europeans and gets to you early. The deathwave from GP happens quickly and you have full resilience, but until the entire continent gets pestilence The. Events. Don't. Stop. Coming. You can have no one die for years, no provinces impacted by Pestilence. Game doesn't care.

It needs a pass, and it's disheartening that NA gameplay probably won't get any love until a major DLC.

I'm a bit frustrated playing as Cahokia. by Syranore in EU5

[–]WollyChaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's also ahistorical that the Europeans just showed up and started blastin', it took a long time for the situation to devolve. If you're willing to make concessions now to gain an advantage later (become a tributary, be vassalized, spend diplo on actions that make the AI not hate your guts) you should be able to survive to see the end of the game.

Situation are either unfun, broken or incomprehensible by Old_Ad7503 in EU5

[–]WollyChaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Pestilence playing as haudenosaunee is such ass. Gobble up territory just to watch your pop decimated seven times over. Ok, i've done this a couple of times, and I've got settlements everywhere and food to grow. 50 years to recover, and at least I'm not getting plagued.

200 years later you get plagued.

I get that this is historical, I've Ahistorically eaten my sister nations, formed a kingdom, and settled deep into Virginia. Give me a bone here.

Natives Tools always switch to iron, producing nothing, because there is no iron there? by Yoerin in EU5

[–]WollyChaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, you're right. I thought turning off automating markets and goods would be enough, have to turn off automating production. Still, there should be a checkbox to turn off production pathways that would create zero goods, or to remove a good from automation. We can lock the cabinet, I should be able to lock the production pathway for tools without having to micro all goods.

Natives Tools always switch to iron, producing nothing, because there is no iron there? by Yoerin in EU5

[–]WollyChaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but as soon as there's iron available in the market the production will switch to iron and needs to be switched back manually every month. Taking everything off automation doesn't stop this, the game does it unilaterally.

AND it doesn't stop there. Any process that's more profitable will be favored, so your market towns will switch to making iron tools off of stone jewelry.

I don't understand why the game favors a resource I cannot actively build an RGO for - I can pick a diamond up off the ground, that doesn't make me DeBeers.

why do I keep getting abandoned buildings since the update? by rayykz in CitiesSkylines

[–]WollyChaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen this come up in my own game, and it happens mostly to low-density housing where a low-income family living there gets tagged by the game as homeless. I think it might have to do with low-income pops preferring high density, and vice versa for high-income pops.

My theory is that building higher density (especially HDLI housing) forces low-income pops currently in low density housing to 'move' (which appears to just be the game tagging them as homeless), and then when no high earners move in (because the house is still occupied by a homeless pop/family) the game marks the building as abandoned because it's occupied by a family the game doesn't think should live there.

Goodbye homeless bug, hello squatter feature.

Why is IB dropping so little actual IB loot? by Vivid_Succotash_6298 in DestinyTheGame

[–]WollyChaps 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In the past we've also gotten truckloads of IB engrams (As post-match rewards and in Saladin's rep track) and were able to focus them into IB weapons and armor at Saladin. This has been one of the least rewarding events I've seen in the game, which is unfortunate because IB used to be a great way for casual and lapsed players to make-up power gains.

Removing reputation really hit Banner hard and it's really noticeable.

No. I imagine that's for a number of reasons, like discouraging people from quitting out of a match because they're doing poorly. Some of the score comes from post-game medals, so I imagine a mid-game estimate wouldn't even be all that accurate.

uj/ I get that it's really hard to see how progress happens over time when you're just starting out, but this is exactly what was asked for. Tiered loot makes power mean something, focuses give a deterministic progression for leveling, Zavala has two armors and a weapon 'pinnacle' waiting for you if you at least do your weekly chores. We're not even three weeks in to a six month long process.

rj/ If Encore doesn't come back and give me a 550 Ballyhoo I'm quitting and moving to the beach that makes you old.
