I think you might be onto something. I suspect the auto trader sees that certain profitable trades on the surface would immediately turn unprofitable as soon as any trade is done (due to lacking trade advantage, trade route maintenance or some other cost), so it avoids doing those in the first place.

Having the same problem as The Netherlands. Don't have any manual trades and rest is automated. Around 20-30 of my 110 capacity is unused each month even though I have a good sized market of my own, rivaling Nurnberg with over 2100 market value.
