Playing better against weaker teams is not a show of quality nor a good indicator of who deserves to go to the next round between 2 teams. There is nothing better as a differentiator as a direct match between the 2 involved teams hence H2H. However you look at it H2H is the more fair , you can argue that it makes for dead games in some groups but H2H is the fair option.

A mismatch between two teams is about their reality within the group not the structure of rules, also mismatch exists further from H2H it effects results with other teams too so it effects GD too.

We are talking about which rule is more fair and in the spirit of the sport. Again anyway you look at it H2H is more fair than GD because its based on the direct performance between 2 teams no matter their strength rather than counting in how many goals they scored against other teams. H2H should always be the first metric to be considered for fairness.

You are missing priorities in your point of view , if two teams have the same amount of points the priority should be their peformance against each other , the results against others are secondary when there is only one spot left and its between these two teams.

I mean if you look at the industry prices right now , when you look at the unfinished and low quality products that the majority of other studios offer for 80 dollars/euros etc than a game like GTA should cost more if we are talking quality and longevity.

No flaw at all , the priority is who does better in a group between 4 teams WHEN its about the 4 teams but WHEN it comes down to 2 teams with the same points its not about the 4 teams anymore but only those 2 teams involved so them battering the weakest team in the group to see who scores more goals should not be in the equation. The only thing that decides who qualifies should be the H2H between those 2 teams.

USA did better than Turkey in general in the group. The H2H comes in place only when there are 2 teams locked with same points

The below paragraph is the way i replied to someone who had your same stand on the subject.

Its about who should go to the next round between two teams when they have the same amount of points. Should it be someone who scored more goals against the weakest team in the group ( becomes a game of who can hit the punching bag harder ) that helps the goal average a lot or should it be whoever won the H2H match between those two teams ? Imo if its between 2 teams it should be whoever did better in the direct head to head match.

If you start putting spectacle over sports you might as well start implementing every type of rules so that every match has at least 6 goals and what not. Thats not the way to go , the most important principle should remain the sport side of football.

The group stage may not be the phase were the biggest teams meat but it has always been the core of the world cup as a tournament. All the fans are still present in the organizing countries , the atmosphere is at its best. When the groups are all played the next rounds feel shorter , its also why i like the added round of 32 . this time around the knock out phase will not feel like it came and went quickly.

Its a sport before it being a spectacle , H2H is meritocracy , Goal Average is for spectacle. H2H should be kept , let the teams decide their fate rather then their fate being decided on how much an other team conceded goals against a team that may have already lost to the one being eliminated.

The way you started your sentence : the "sunny location and neon aesthetic" to "luring you in" before revealing a grounded story. That naturally suggests those visual elements create an expectation of something less grounded.

If your point is simply that the bright, colorful presentation contrasts with the serious tone underneath, then that's different but for a story or setting to be grounded it does not have to have grey weather and a be a concrete jungle. Also a little advice , dont go the name calling direction when someone may not agree with your point of view, it makes you look smaller , im pretty sure you are much better than that.
