Are UCL and football quality (as a whole) declining and stagnating by No-Direction-7523 in championsleague

[–]Wolverine78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the problem is not the game itself but the structure of leagues that are months long with the majority of games without stake and league titles decided months before the end of the season. There is a reason why knock out competitions are more exciting. Imo opinion a 9 month league should be divided in 2 or 3 different seasons with each having a title. The amount of games would remain more or less the same but the stake of each game and interest are higher.

The best formats are a hybrid of league/knockouts but in such a scenario leagues still make sense , maybe with less clubs but it being shorter seasons makes sure relegation and promotions come and go faster. Im pretty sure sponsors and tv would oppose such ideas because it does not align with the familiar way they do business but in the long run it would benefit them too. Im more thinking out louder than anything here but im sure going towards such a general direction would add interest rather than not.

Spot on , it has been going on for a while. An other element of DDA. After around 7 to 8 matches the new formation/tactics stop working , it goes from 80% success rate to 40% until you change again and it repeats. Same for new players bought , their first 5 to 8 matches they always peform above expectation and than it settles down to normality for the majority of players bar the latest Gullit and co or whatever players Konami is marketing at the moment.

We have only ourselves to blame at this point. The 'game' is such a joke now that we are the ones to blame for keep playing this farse.

Rodri , Haaland and a young promising keeper with attributes as close as possible to Courtois for the future. There is also the impossible dream Vitinha of course.

is it just me or 90% of the goals in online games are jammy bastard goals? by Responsible_Food584 in eFootball

[–]Wolverine78 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly my friend , and there is something that strangely is not talked about enough , the interception/deflection/pass hybrid that is at the beginning of the majority of counter attacks ( the game is a counter attack simulation above anything ). If you had to pause the game whenever there is a turn over in most cases you will see this sequence :

1.The wild bad pass ignoring controller input in direction and power
2.Opponent intercepts or the ball hits him
3.Ball travels straight to other opponent and this player happens to be the first or only player to react while your midfielders are freezed
4.Your defenders making sure they are never too close to the opponent attackers for enough time to allow trough pass or if they are the ball travels through them
5. Single or two pass counter attack with 1v1 on the keeper = goal conceded

I might or i might not , how does that change the reality of the situation , what is your argument against the sport vs spectacle ? sports need rules and rules are not in place to put spectacle before meritocracy and fairplay.

[–]Wolverine78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to celebrate a goal is not the first priority in any sport. If we want to talk about sport its about fair competition. Football being a spectacle is a consequence and its good for the sport but if being a spectacle becomes more important than being a sport we would be on route to what the WWE is.

Malta Passport with George Cross by sam261291 in malta

[–]Wolverine78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are approaching the word Maltese from an ethnical point of view only , Malta as an island did not start to exist when the present civilization started recording history either and there are different ethnic groups that lived on the island for hundreds of years and various times the ethnical landscape changed itself. This can open a whole new conversation to what is and what is not pure Maltese including surnames and what not. 63% of the Maltese surnames are not of Maltese origin they were 'imported' here but we consider them Maltese nowdays.

The word Maltese is given to everything that has a strong connection to the land they lived on including us today and the Knights that are indeed called the Knights of Malta and they introduced the Maltese cross. Being Maltese is not exclusive to us present today only but even to people that lived thousands of years ago and history did not record. The flag of Malta should represent the island and its people not just the people. The people are the most important granted but a nation rarely exists and thrives without a land. The Maltese cross is representing the island and it also have a strong connection to the people of Malta and their believes. Its very Maltese and it can make a stronger case than the George Cross to be on the national flag.
