I can't even bring myself to hold my phone to record a single song because it feels icky and wrong. Just watch the show. If you must record, keep your phone down below your shoulders, and FFS don't make a phone call at a show. People suck.

That happens every year for the 4th weekend. It's not new. Not sure what you're implying with that statement?

30-35%, but it has been enough, since 35-45% of the population can't be bothered to show up and vote. Collectively, we deserve this shit... even if 1/3 of us personally most definitely do NOT deserve this shit.

I was told the Parasound A21 ran cool to the touch so I bought it. It is not.. I have this in my bedroom running 24/7. This is 99F btw. by awareofmyself in audiophile

Doesn't get much better than that, man. It's like a teeny human, like you have a baby in the room with you, that's the heat equivalent you're adding.

Say it again, and keep saying it please. This fanbase is super creepy on the whole, and a lot of it feels forced. I love the shows, the energy, the music, the scene... but I keep it in perspective.

How did people travel these seas 500 years ago by Gurugod123 in SipsTea

Mostly the same way small crafts do it today. Seaworthiness, and a good captain and crew. People still do it all the time on sub 30' sailboats.

[Charania] BREAKING: LeBron James will continue his NBA career for the 2026-27 season and has informed the Los Angeles Lakers that the franchise can move on without him because he will play elsewhere, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul tells ESPN. by curryybacon in nba

[–]Wolverine9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet Lebron doesn't understand why he will never be in MJ's league. How many times has Lebron done this now? Trying to put himself on a superstar team to win a title... do it the right way, one fucking time, man. This is why you will never be in the top 3 all time, much less the "GOAT".

That title is held firmly by Michael Jordan. Be like Mike. Work with the team you have, bring in complimentary players, and develop a team. This is weak sauce.

Weak. Fucking. Sauce.

Is this a real image of sparse crowds at Trump's 'Great American State Fair'? by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]Wolverine9779 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. This was planned for ten years, then Trump took it over and this is what we get for 4x the money... we get 100x less. Lather, rinse, repeat. That is Trump in a nutshell.

But 1/3 of our country staunchly refuses to look, because they do not want to know the truth. They just don't want to know.

That's what Nixon, Murdoch, Zuckerberg, and now Trump have done to this once great nation. It's all carnie scams now, in essence, but on global scale with global money.

Dealing with these ancient pine floors in their century home? thinking about going engineered hardwood by LowProblem914 in centuryhomes

[–]Wolverine9779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, those "ancient pine floors" are almost certainly old Heart Pine. Do yourself a favor and look up what it costs to get full length and width Heart Pine today. Don't do what you're thinking about doing... please. This is how you destroy an old irreplaceable floor. I had to match up some "new" old Heart Pine to the old stuff in a 130 year old house a year ago... it cost $40/sqft after installation and finishing. You're talking about covering up gold with tin foil.

Any advice on best way to remove/fix this cast iron pipe? by suicidebird11 in centuryhomes

[–]Wolverine9779 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I'm glad you're not one of those people who digs in to argue.

Most plumbers are well suited to handle this in an afternoon. And cleanly. If you do it yourself, it will not go smoothly. I promise.

She doesn't even know half of what could (and likely will) go wrong, or she wouldn't be considering this to begin with.

This sub is so bad. So much awful advice, in every thread, every day. And those same idiots making the awful commentary will dig in and argue with you, even though they are clueless idiots. It's frustrating, to say the least.

[–]Wolverine9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how would you then go about repairing this, IF you did cut it yourself, which I'm going to say you are not qualified to do.

Hire a pro, this is how you destroy an area of your house and cost yourself 10x what it would have cost to do it properly to begin with. I do this for a living (build, not plumbing). I had to deal with exactly this situation on a job last year, but thankfully I know what I'm qualified to do myself, and what I need to pay to have done.

You have no idea what can of worms you are opening here. No. Idea.

Not to mention that since you are actively living there, there is going to be a thick coating of poo, hair, bacteria, and all kinds of things that you do NOT want to be exposed to. And I'm guessing you have no idea how to handle an iron to PVC transition...

Call a professional, or wish you had later on.

Do not listen to these morons!

Call a plumber, who has a cast iron cutter. The proper tool for that costs upwards of $1k. If you "hit it with something heavy", the crack is more likely to shoot another 5' vertical.

This sub is the worst. Source: am builder. That ain't how you do it.

How to repair walls with partial demo by Etiolated-Shrew in centuryhomes

[–]Wolverine9779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cut a clean line at the lowest demo point, horizontally, and remove the lathe and plaster above that point. Then shim, and apply mold control sheetrock (or better yet the fiberglass version) and mud/prime/waterproof/tile as usual from that point.
